Im thinking of going 2inch hot side, 2 1/4 cold side

end goal is 320rwhp

is that big enough?

the car is being built for drift

intercooler measurements are 2 inch in and out end tanks

19 1/2 x 9 x 2 1/4 inches

Yeah, that's fine. Your piping is only as good as your throttle body. 2.5" would be the limit.

what are the pros and cons of 2.5 inch cold pipe v.s. 2.25?

not much

the bigger diameter will have a bigger volume aswell which takes slightly longer to fill with air.

going from stock AWD top mount to front mount with 2.5 " piping i noticed a slightly longer lag. Nothing to complain about though.

the difference between the 2.2.5 and 2.5 wouldnt be noticable.

I'd go with the smallest you feel like running, 2.25" would be fine... its easier to fit when you are mounting it, cheaper to make, and really doesn't make too much difference unless you are pushing some serious power. and that lag thing, although the difference is really so small that unless you go with 3" or larger it shoudln't make too much of a difference...

Yea, those are a good core. They don't cool quite as well as a bar&plate/tube and fin, but it allows soooo much more air past to the radiator.

yea i do like the cooler i was going to go with a spearco but i got this for a very good price, so i couldnt pass it up.

im excited to see what kind of gains i get from this..

on a side note, my turbo makes a whistling noise from vacume into a couple psi of boost anyone know what it is. it almost sounds like police siren.

im goign to run it till money can afford for somthign different or it blows up any suggestions? t28 or?

It's a turbo, it's supposed to sound like that! JK, no, that does sound a little weird, and I'm not sure what would cause it. They don't generally make much noise when you're off boost.

Its not at like idle or normal vacume its as u depress the pedal and right as ur comming up to 0 and up to a few psi is sounds so silly...

The turbo has no shaft play and isnt burnign oil or anything.... meh

we will see what happens.

ill show updates when i find some good pricing on mandrel u bends and i start welding everything together

every once in a while, like 1 out of 10 or 15 drives, mine will make this squealing noise when it gets up to 5-7 psi. at 10 psi or so the hissing of the turbo either covers it up, or it goes away... but I'm not sure why it happens...

I plan on running 2.25 on the hotside and 2.5 on the cold side. Same horsepower goals.

It might be a bearing squeal. Had a similar noise/cause on my Z31 before I sold it...

I go with 3,1 inch on both sides (80 mm aluminium tubing).

Throttle body necks down to a 2.75" outer diameter so the 3" is heavy overkill. The throttle plate itself is around 2" in diameter.

Jesus, 3" IC piping? You better have a big turbo.

i too am running 3" diameter pipeng, but i saw a equation form corky bell for calculating intercooler piping based on your HP .. i'll look it up..

but smaller is better except for max boost/hp situations

2.5 seems to be ideal for quick response and consistant flow, you want to have as few diameter changes as possible, (going from 2"-2.5" to 3" at hte intercooler then 2.5" to 2.75" at the TB) - it woiuld be better to go once form 2-2.5" and use a 2.5" thick intercooler then only step up once to 2.75 at the TB.. the hoses flex and cause turbulance etc.. the difference may be minimal but there is apparently some difference.

sorry to bring this back to the dead, but I finally diagnosed mine, it was a slowly expanding exhaust manifold gasket leak. Just letting you know, maybe you can replace yours before it completely blows like mine did.
