I wouldn't recommend Zerolift... even if you were local and picking up something free from them!

They d!ck me around for about half a year on some SSR wheels, and supposedly even locals are having problems with them.

Find a reputable seller.

Why not just get some pistons made. All you need is a flatter top right? You are talking about spending around the same amount of money but going to a stock bottem end or heads that you are not sure will work. They only issues i see about making custom pistons is the top of the piston being too thin or the wrist pin bore being to close the oil ring.

Thanks for all the help and support guys.

as for the zerolift place, thanks to the poster but ive already got a neo block set up with ricky at rawbrokerage.

The custom piston deal... theres still too much room for error. id have to have a custom mold made of my head and then HOPE that the piston works. not trying to play games at this point. i want a known good setup and since evidently no ones really done much RB26/NEO stuff before, ill just run an all neo setup. the pistons are not made aftermarket for the exact neo motor.

Im getting my money back from the seller of the RB25 head, he turned out to be pretty cool. he couldnt find the cam caps so he said he'd refund me. im happy. now i can save up some more money and get the short block / pay off my credit card / pay off my shop. Oh and my DD is dying. GAH cant win.

UPDATE

-Just finished sending raw brokerage a payment for my new NEO SHORTBLOCK! should be shipping sometime soon.

Also got:

-SS braided clutch line-NGK spark plug set

I'll be using my OEM nissan head gasket (new in packaging) for this build as many have reported that they're of good quality and since im using another stock bottom end, with stock bore and all, i could use this HG. saves me $330 for the tomei one. and i already have one.

The last concern of mine is the clutch situation. with a STOCK pressure plate and a 6 puck sprung disc, what kind of power will this hold? at this point im going to put the car together and upgrade the clutch later. my DD is about to die and this car is almost done.

I've also got to order some EV-1 injector pigtails and wire in my resistor box.

Why are you using a STOCK pressure plate?Take the stock PP to a clutch shop and have them upgrade your PP. You have have the Fulcrum moved on it, you can upgrade or double up on the spring plate. Have straps added etc.

Or just buy a upgraded Z32 PP. Cheapest and easiest way.

The clutch is a system. The disc creates the friction, the PP creates the Pressure to hold it to the flywheel.

So your disc is only as good as your PP.

Yea its a stock pressure plate that was "modified to work with clutch disc" by previous owner. Since this is a pull type transmission, doesnt it use a different PP than the Z32?

Yeah my bad I forgot that the Neo's were pull. Z32 is push.if they already modified the pp to work with that disc then you should be good. If you know anyone with a stock Neo pp then try counting the straps and see if there are two spring discs also the actual plate should be surfaced flat. Stock pp are concave or have a slight grade to them.

most aftermarket injectors are low imp. so you basically have to run a resistor box if you want a decent set. as for the clutch setup, i dont think a stock one would do me any good, but could you look at my pic i posted of the clutch and see whats different about your PP ?

Wait, the new bottom end is out of a GT4? Umm, that's less than optimal. No oil squirters and the other problems you are seeing. Also, that bottom end wasn't put together at a factory. Maybe I better leave you with that block and crank before I go back just in case you need it. Still in Charleston BTW.

Not to mention the oil pans are completely different.

So yeah you might want a RWD RB25 block....

Why don't you just get a long block already? I know your having problems that's why I picked up an rb25 to start fresh and get away from my rb20.

dude i just got this shortblock like a couple of weeks ago. this was supposed to be a Neo short block that would just bolt right up with my head, but now... not sure whats up. the block has oil squirters not sure about the rod size (beefy rb26 ones or not)

i see a "sickness14 RB25 s14 part out" thread being created soon

Well, they didn't make an AWD Turbo Skyline RB25 Neo, but I think maybe they made an AWD Stagea with an AWD RB25 Turbo Neo motor in it. Since the pan is off, look and see if the rods look like little girl rods or beefy ones like the Neo/RB26 rods. Also, you should be able to see if it has oil squirters or not. Don't panic yet, but it's the first thing I'd check. I'm home now so feel free to cal me before 11-11:30 or so, or just in the morning (not too early though) if you want.
