first time here and I am experiencing a loud squealin sound

it seems the squealin sound is coming from the a/c compressor or possibly the belt. since the weather got colder the sound happens more frequent and louder but after the car warms up it goes away. Has anyone experience this before and what did you do?

google squealing belt. tons of causes but loose belt is said to be most common. while the engine is running rub bar of soap on side of belt to see which belt is the culprit. may have a glazed belt which needs sanding or cleaning.

1. loose belt or damaged belt2. glazed belt or pulley3. oil or liquid leaking on belt4. pulley out of alignment5. alternator bearings shot6. power steering pump shot7. fan clutch shot8. water pump shot9. radiator blocked??? not sure about that one

I bought a ten dollar stethoscope which eliminates bad alt bearings etc
