So,

Made my first Infiniti purchase today. 2008 G37S 30k miles auto with paddle shifters. Is there anything I should know, or be aware of owning this vehicle that some of you veterans might be able to give me a heads up on? It is an Infiniti Certified Pre-Owned and I upgraded the warranty to include the maintenance and full Elite Warranty to 100k miles or 2016.

Not sure if I am going to do any mods at this point. I live in Florida and have moved on from owning CBR/GSXRs to owning my first coupe. All advice/feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,

Zac

I recently bought my G37x a couple of weeks ago, too. I was actually looking at a G37S, but opted for the AWD sedan instead. I'm also getting Infiniti's Elite warranty (canceled the 3rd party warranty just yesterday). I'm a first time Infiniti owner, too, but from experience with luxury brands like Audi, MB and BMW, I always get a service history report to make sure maintenance has been routinely done. CarFax report is nice to have as well. IMO, I'd go easy on the mods since you have a warranty.

Congrats! Any pics?

Welcome to NICO!

The only warranty issues I've really had was the brakes needing turning right after I bought it due to something getting on the rotors and the muffler being replaced due to a rattle. Batteries are known to go and I simply replaced mine without going through Infiniti.

Otherwise no real issues that I didn't cause myself :)

Thanks for the welcoming words everyone. I would like to get an idea of some moderately priced ($100-$500) cosmetic add ons but other than that I am very pleased with the car bumper to bumper in the first 24hrs. I am missing the manuals which the dealership is ordering for me, and the floor mats were beat to hell so they are ordering new factory mats for me. To be honest I don't see myself using the paddle shifter option often, but I do absolutely love the seat extension in the S model. LOVE IT!

The only cosmetic changes in that price range would be the grille, window tint, rear spoiler, front lip or maybe some 3M rock guard?

I used to get slight brake squeal with the factory brakes but only when backing up, which is relatively normal with the G. Since going to Project mu / Hawk pads I no longer have that noise.

The sedan still has the reverse squeal tho and I just had new rotors/pads put on the back a couple months ago.

Some problems you may experience are premature warping of OEM rotors, driver's seat noise and movement, and oil consumption, premature wear of wheel bearings, and premature failure of OEM ballasts. There are a few other issues too. But with the B2B warranty and Extended Service Contract you should be in good shape with repair costs.

Welcome to Nico
You made an excellent choice

I too am on my first Infiniti.
Very reliable and comfortable to drive especially on occasional long drives to Florida from New Jersey.
I too purchased the Infiniti Elite warranty from the dealer.
Purchasing a warranty from a 3rd party although cheaper can perhaps leave one with a huge future problem.

My Infiniti sure beats my old 58 Ford and 53 Studebaker

there is a TSB on an exhaust valve that you might want to check. There's a problem with it not shutting off on short drives, continuing the cycles after you shut off the engine (and draining the battery). If that's not resolved you're just going to continue burning through batteries
