They're here... Exhaust hanger and filler neck.

Had to wait like two weeks... I'm a bit preturbed with IOS since they could have let me know they held back the package for BG 44K. Haven't been able to drive the Q during most of that time.

Will be installing these bad boys tonight!!!!!

Derw, i'm curious to know how you do your hangars. it's cake when you lift up the trans with the rear mount loose, but i couldn't do it without raising the trans.

i hope you use the light blue rtv on the filler neck to preserve that 'factory' appearance.

GQ... I did use the blue RTV When I removed the filler neck, the old one was much heavier and seemed to contain more brass/copper. The new neck is light and strictly aluminum.

I haven't changed the hangers yet as I have the Q up on stands with the driveshaft removed. I suppose that a scissor jack will be involved at some point. I once changed the transmission mount, but when I got the new transmission, my mechanic used the one that came with it. I plan to swop it out this weekend. I'm driving my truck right now till I can get around to the Q. She's getting a well deserved break.

Pretty discreet modification to get better acceleration.

I changed the hangers last night but I also had to do the transmission mount so that made the job much easier. I used an old scissor jack to support the transmission and you are right, I had to leave the trannyt mount very loose in order to be able to get the hangers situation over the 4 studs (each). Even if I wasn't changing the mount, I think It's still necessary to loosen it so either way you're stuck doing it.

I now have much less vibration but will keep looking for a driveshaft.

I posted we had a used one available you didn't want it at the time/price point I guess. Call Ty he might have another one as we have been buying used Q at an accelerated rate for parts.

Have you checked Sports and Imports graveyard in Norcross.

well done Drew. i don't mean this to be as 'duh' a question as it sounds, just trying to get to the bottom of some pesky minor vibes--is the vibe there in park or only while rolling? rpm sensitve or speed sensitive?

Thanks Tech,

I will definately keep it in mind. Strange as it sounds, I just don't feel like kicking out hundreds for a driveshaft right now. I have the ability to get them quite cheaply when available, just that there are none at this time. My drive shaft lost it's balance when a mechanic incorrectly pulled it from the rubber guibos. This was during my 2nd transmission replacement (first unit was a dud) so after that cost, I'm a bit reluctant to throw much money into it even though, at some point, I know I may have to.

Sad thing is, I got a shaft a while back and accidentally tore the rubber surround in the centerline bearing. One has to be careful when installing especially getting the tail end situated in the flange. Guess it's a learning curve.. I believe I am now quite adept at installing/removing these things without straining any of the components.

GQ... The vibe is only when moving. It's a harmonic vibe with speed-dependent frequency... Starts at about 35 mpg and strongest at 40-45. Also feel it at 80 or so but not as strong. I'd say the vibe is now half as strong with new hangers and good mount.

..Drew...

A few shots of the old components…

...you really can't tell how bad a transmission mount is till you pull it....

Both hangers were bad with one about to rip in half...

I looked closely at my hangers, when I had the exhaust off Friday. Mine still look good. I had a tough time getting the exhaust hangers back in when I was re-installing the system. A well placed floor jack is your friend.

I bet the driveshaft vibration is taking it's toll on those hangers.

Years ago these old Thin filler necks were the source of a lot of grief when the 2 pieces separated in an overheat and caused coolant to leak out.

Amazing to still see them as this was a known problem 10 years ago, just shows those that had dealer services and those that didn't.

First thing that dealers warned about.
