3 hours--unless you bring it to Infiniti of Tampa. They want 14 hours w/total cost of $2200! This is on top of the $3500 exhaust system they want to install and that's already after the $1200 in Nov '07 for anti-skid/traction control problem.Anyone know of a good mechanic in Tampa area that knows how to service a Q45? My valve covers weren't leaking until I brought it to them to repair leaking power steering hose.

Thanks.

Since you're in Florida, I'd recommend just humping it to T3. I need to do my valve covers as well. I don't know if it's both leaking, but I'm just going to do them both. This thread is the answer I've been looking for. I smell the oil burning on the exhause manifolds and I've been getting spots on the driveway and in my school's parking lot. I check my levels every couple of days, especially after a lengthy drive, and they've been ok. But I know that it can only get worse.

Active and TCS Q are a little more difficult [time consuming] we add 1 hour for each....................but 9 x $85 = $ 765 plus parts would include new spark plug labor................you would be surprise how the logic of simultaneously changing plugs is lost on a segment of population.

Or call Joe. He'll give you a great deal. 94-96 Q's use an actual gasket, so it might run you a little more than what I spent for my 92.

Hello all. I'm new here and a new Infiniti Q45 owner, she's a 92. Anyway, Jeff I'm simply trying to tackle changing the darn spark plugs. One of the connector clips from the coil literally crumbled in my hand (137,000 original miles). Any tips on removing the clips???? :gotme And do you know where I can get a replacement clip from?
Thanks in advance.

Jeff, I will have to replace my drivers side valve cover gasket. It is leaking slowly on the exhaust manifold. I saw your post with each step, but there are no pic's. I feel the pics would be very helpful. can you send them to me? Thanks.... Joe G

The pictures were probably lost when the transfer occurred to the new forum layout, a few years ago. :frown:

Jeff, My 95 Q45 is leaking on both sides. I may try to replace the gaskets this spring. Do you have pictures of this procedure along with your text? It sure would be helpful. Thanks in advance. Joe G.

So, I last did this job (driver side) in Feb 2007 on the silver '94, but I did a complete plenum and injectors that time and therefore the secondary air pipe under the throttle body was out of the way.....
Both G50 are leaking on the driver side, and I have the BlacQ 95 partially torn down for the job. but I'm scratching my head on the air tube. Anybody want to share how they did this without removing the upper plenum? EGR tube not a problem, i unscrewed both ends.

Everything is more difficult on an active Q....
I ended up having to temporarily remove the active pipe from the LF strut and reposition it on forward side of the strut tower. I also removed the two large harness brackets that bolt to the head just under the VC. (4 10mm short bolts).
I mount the gaskets dry to the cover and use permatex grey at locations in FSM. I use gaffers tape to hold the half moon section to the cover during install then peel it away.

I have a 1996 Q45t with 111,000 in truly pristine condition, original owner car before me (it's only been in CA and AZ). I'm getting ready to tackle the driver's side cover gasket as it is leaking on the exhaust and smelling and smoking as others have mentioned. Are there any other parts I need to purchase besides the cover gasket itself? I want to buy everything at once so I can finish the complete job in one day.

Look at that gunk!
Jeff, I need to do both sides. There are no pictures in your steps. Do you have any pictures that would be helpful for the Valve cover Gasket replacement?
