I'm in a debate myself $168 for the dealer to do my headlight relay and another $737 for brake pad/rotor turning...and then $250 plus cats so far to do the front half of my exhaust. So I'm looking at dropping around $1200 into a car that in it's condition may net me $1000-$2000 in trade in value.

but I'd hate to get rid of it. lol

The switches with harness and wires for the seat heaters would be great.. Also, can I get a picture of the center console please?

168 for the headlight relay ????????I got a new one from the local dealer for 26 bucks and installed in in about 20 minutes !!

And I got OEM brake pads from Joe and had the rotors turned at a machine shop for 7 bucks each !!

I wish I lived by you lol I would undercut them by 10% and have lots o beer money leftover !! lol

Yeah...one of the two dealers here wants $67.38 for the relay and $100 for 1hr of labor. And the other dealer places me in voice mail whenever i tell them I'm looking for service on a 93 J, and they never call me back.

I'd just order the part from Joe and do it myself, but I keep getting mixed reviews on how to do it and the time it takes. I've seen a full page of instructions on here and then the dealer told me it's only accessable from the fenderwell. And I dont know if I want to mess with it.

If I could get an honest set of instructions and such, and knew I wasnt going to damage anything else in the process, I'd tackle it myself and save over $125.

And I've had a few different local shops do the brakes many times and within a few months or so, less than 15k miles they are pulsating again. Like the rotors are warped. So I was going to see if the dealer doing it would make any difference.

About the rotors..My machine shop guy wont turn anything below specs. You might need new rotors if they have been turned several times. To thin and they will warp with a quickness.

Rotors can warp a number of different ways no matter how new or old. If they are nice and hot and you run thru a good puddle, bam, warped.

I got a relay out of a salvage yard J30 and i installed it myself in less than fifteen minutes the relay was like $5. that shop is ripping you off talking about an hour labor.

I'm getting a quote from another shop today.

I'd do it myself if I had a garage and could take the time to do it. Work, two kids and a house take up more time than I have. And when it's been highs in the singles to teens. No way I'm standing outside for an hour or so to do it myself.

OEM rotors or a good quality brand should last awhile.I turned mine two years ago and havent had a single issue yet !!Scott is correct about hot rotors getting wet ..Even getting them hot then coming to stop and keeping the pads engaged can do it as well.

You might check and make sure your caliper pins are nice and lubed.if they aren't the pads wont disengage completely and you will have a hot rotor all the time !!

If I end up taking it to the shop I've used before when I lived at home. I can give them a little hell and make sure they check the calipers and tell me if they rotors the shop here in Indy put on were cheap or OEM.

I normally dont have them do much work anymore since it's a 3 hour trip each way. But I might in this case.

They did a great job on my upper and lower thermostat housings, parts labor and all for about $250. Local shop wanted $650 and dealer wanted $500
