so i have 3 t28s, one im assuming is an s14 , the other 2 im pretty sure are from GTI-rs (both the guys i got them from said they were)

so ones compressor is .48, thats the one i have mounted on there now... the other is a .60 compressor .... i still have time to switch them before i drop in the engine. would the 60 give me a wider powerband? (i dont have my equations or maps handy, just this board and email)

Yea, go with the .60 compressor housing. The .48 is too small. You'll gain a little lag, but it will more than make up for it once it spools. You'll have lower intake temps, wich has all kinds of good side effects.

.60A/R on the compressor is still small enough, that you will more than likely not even notice that lag. Bastard. I want a T28 soooooo bad.

Ditto. I got screwed on my turbo. The guy told me it was a T28, I got it and found out it was a T25, and then I couldn't ever get a hold of the guy. I never bothered to try and find another T28. I had $500 wrapped up in this one, so I'll run it till it dies.

Ofcourse I'll do everything I can to speed up the dying process....

sure, once i get this car running, ill sell off the extra turbos.. (and i have all the parts i need on teh way, except possibly a coldpipe... i think i have enough piping to rig up a coldpipe for the fmic.. but time will tell, all my FMIC stuff came from a chaser

right now i have 5 total turbos, one i know is a stock CA t25, took it off a wrecked 180one i think is an s14 t28 (the one i have mounted on now, it waas on my silvia in japan)2 are supposed to be GTI-r t28s ... i didnt see the cars they came from thoone might be a t3, its from a 240 or 280z (usdm)

all of them have almost no shaft play except the t3, which actually has some dirt in it, would need a serious rebuild for anyone to use it....

maybe ill take some pics and post them up here... for verification purposes

im planning to go to a gt3xxx sometime next year ... i saw a gt3251e for sale, the guy says its the same as a t3/t04e but with the GT center... i think thats what i want... but id like to get those rediculous ceramic wheels on it too

ill probably do the t3 flange/external conversion early next year while i find the perfect turbo for it, then i can compare a standard t3/t04e vs the GT crazy turbo

ok, so, GTIr turbo almost installed, i got the manifold, and everything on it now except the actuator (need to play with it some more) and the coolant feed line

it looks *almost* impossible with the stock hardline to get it on the turbo.. im using a line that was semi-customized (and working) from my s14 turbo.. just switching it over to the new one

has anyone used this turbo with a stock water feed line? or is it pointless to try and i should be getting a 90 deg fitting and making a new line? (i would like to use the stock hardline for now at least if possible)

1st- why didn't you loosen up the bolts on the exhaust housing and clock the center housing? Regardless, I think one other member used the turbo you're using and ended up using braided lines as he couldn't get the stockers to work. But it was Tim and he's kind of a duncecap, so who knows for sure. Some people might say to just leave the coolant lines off, but it has the potential of shortening the life of the turbo. I look at it this way; Nissan used them and their cars and turbo's and they generally last over 100K miles.

2nd-If you're not going to use the T28, I'd be interested. I just emailed you.

and i clocked the compressor, thought you couldnt clock the center because it is bolted to the turbine housing...still working that one out, ill see if i can rotate it.... maybe ill just rotate it to the next bolt, and rebend the otehr lines too

or...if the center comes off, i can probably just stick the line on like that then get it bolted back onto the turbine housing... it looks like it will clear when installed, there just isnt enough room to put it in

then theres the issue of the actuator bracket...

i need to play with this thing some more to see if i can get it to work

yea i hardly noticed lag w/ my s14 bbt28...but that was w/ the ssac manifold thats suppose to have quicker spool

a local ca buddy of mine said he liked his gtir t28 just fine so im sure u will too...but he said his was more laggy than a ca or sr w/ stock t25

SUCCESS

ok, it was alot easier than i thought, all it is is unbolting the turbine and rotating (cleaned some of the dirty buildup while i was in there)

so everything will fit now.. theres only 2 problems left, wastegate actuator bracket.. which i should be able to rig up something... and then the coolant return line cracked from bending

i would just stick some thick tube around both ends and clamp it down, but its right next to the turbine ... the hose would probably melt or something

anyone have a coolant return line (the hardline that goes behind the block) for sale?

but now, the moral of the story: a gtir turbo *will* fit and if you are careful, all the lines will fit, and you will just need to rig a wastegate actuator bracket (i might just snatch the one off the s14 turbo and call it good)

speaking of: the gtir has a .86 turbine and .60 compressor the 's14' turbo has a .49 turbine and .48 compressor

the turbine looks about the same size as the CA t25 one i have, but the compressor is definatly a t28 sizeis this an s14 turbo, or do i have something else?

I'm pretty sure the S14 turbo is supposed to be about .6x on the compressor and turbine sides.
