So I HATE cleaning my windows because it is such a PITA. It is so tight in my coupe around the windshield/rear it drives me crazy. Anyway, there is a film that builds up on the inside of my windows CONSTANTLY.

Only a few days after cleaning them I can notice it (I drive into the sun every morning, makes this 'film' VERY obvious). Does anyone out there have any secrets or tips to avoiding this buildup? I would just like to not have to clean my windows every 5-7 days.

I also wanted to confirm a rumor I heard about window cleaning . . . is old newspapers the best thing to use? I heard this but it seems very odd considering all the ink that comes off on my hands alone ...

(I also have tints all around except on windshield)

Yes the old newspaper and ammonia trick...yes it does work.. Don't try it with your tints though. The ammonia breaks down the molecular structure of the tint film thus degrading it's ability to filter UV rays.

The have a non ammonia glass cleaner that's formulated for tints. I don't remember the name of it but I can post what it is when I get home later on today.

This is the one thing that makes me dislike my tinted windows. I usually just wipe them back down with a dry paper towel when the film develops. I'm pretty sure it's mostly moisture related (if you see the film while driving into the sun, try throwing the defoggers on to test it out - it usually improves a bit on my car).

ya i always have my AC on (to remove the moisture) and defroster doing, i dont ever let moisture build up on the inside of my windows =/ at least not enough to be visible.

Maybe i'll just invent something that makes cleaning our windshield/rear easier . . . i'm short and its EXTREMELY annoying to reach the entire area of the glass. actually thinking a swifer like thing so i wouldnt have to make love to my steering wheel to reach the bottom of the glass LOL

I agree. I'm actually ok with climbing into the back seat to get the rear windows, but it's such a pain to get to the windshield where it meets the dash.

newspapers work really well becaus it doesn't leave "fluff" that normal cloths can leave behind. the ink doesn't come off on the window, just your hands. though microfiber does this well too.

personally, i use a squeegee to clean my windshield.. i wait till they have a bit of fog on it, then squeegee it off and it works well. i don't spray it with windex or anything otherwise it's too much liquid and when you squeegee then it drips all over the place.

This makes cleaning them so much easier and you get all of the hard to reach spots also.

Do NOT use ammonia. Let me say that again. DO NOT USE AMMONIA. Ever seen tints that are purple and bubbly? That's what happens when you use ammonia. My tint guy uses a 100% ammonia solution to REMOVE tints.

This will ruin your tints. Old newspaper works great, the paper absorbs all the oils and other crap that collects on the windows. As far as a solution, you can use Windex with no ammonia.

Ask anyone that does detailing professionally and they swear by using newspaper.
