Yello!

Soooo.
NHTSA ID: 25V-437
NISSAN ID: R25D1

1) "Nissan has identified potential manufacturing defects affecting engine bearings ". does this mean that if I get a set of newer part number bearings and replace them - issue solved?
1.1) parts.nissanusa.com - I don't seem to be able to even open section about "cylinder block components". section "bearings" only has something for camshaft.

2) potentially involved following components ( https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2025/R ... 7-0139.pdf ):
10102 4MUAA
10102 6RCAA (2023-2024)
10102 6RCAE (2023-2024)
10102 6RD0A seems that it is replaced by 10102 6RD1A
10102 6RD1A
10102 6RZ0A seems that it is replaced by 10102 6RD1A

can I find label in a car for our engine?

3) if this situation happens - are turbo and radiators/heat exchangers replaced too(if metal shavings are traveling in oiling system...)?

If they are pulling the oil pan anyway, how hard would it be to get them to replace it with the newer design?

Is there a minimum number of miles before the defect test gives reliable results?

They're not dropping pans anymore on the KR15's, there's a new recall (NTB25-055) which has us reflash the ECM and then test drive the vehicle after warming the oil to 187F or higher. If DTC P0524 occurs during the drive, the engine gets replaced. I don't have exact info about the ECM logic, but apparently the new firmware allows it to deduce incipient bearing failures from the behavior of the oil pressure and temperature.

I think that might be not so simple - because of variable compression, then it is chain(?)...
though - actually - which bearings are problematic? main or conrod ones?!

On the ones that fail, we've seen a variety of bad bearings across both the the crank and the C-link setup, especially on engines which overheated before complete failure. I think the only thing we haven't seen a primary failure in is wrist pins. However, the whole crank and VCR is lubricated from a single Y coming out of the oil pump, so I'd imagine anything in that path could be diagnosed by the new firmware. Since the entire crank is an assembly and not serviceable without replacing the short block, pretty much any bearing failure is going to mean engine replacement. Which bearing fails is really only relevant to Engineering.
