Just got my fresh swap dyno'ed...

90' S13 / Rb20det, stock engine, large frontmount, K&N filter, dual 2.5" Focuz exhaust.....

had some sputtering issues on the first run.... bumped timing a little and netted another 25 hp.....

Lets see a sticky for rb20 dyno sheets

it was 234HP/218TQ.... its kinda hard to see

it is from what i'm told stock boost.... it varies between 10-13psi.it will spike to about 13, settle around 10-11 and then creep back to 13 on the big end

like i said i was shocked to see that much on the stock setup.... i expected around 200whp but i'm not complaining

i wouldnt go that far. your so rich because your turbo is done moving air.

i don't know why people think that the stock turbo is junk on these engines..... everyone is so ready to throw them away or afraid they are going to break if you turn up the boost over 14-15psi. i'd like to hear from the ones that actually have had them fail.

its rich because the factory tuning is set up that way..... i've seen people run these turbo's above 20psi at the track with no issues. now granted i wouldn't push one like that everyday but give the little guy a chance.

regardless i am new to the RB engine but not at all new to turbo setup and tuning.

here is an example of a stock setup running 11.07.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XlKCJca8wU

from what i know of his setup, and granted this is what i've read in forums and such. it's stock rb20det, head studs and cometic gasket, main studs and rod bolts, gtr 444cc injectors, stock turbo at 22psi, and some kind of piggy back tuning...

thats it... not bad for a turbo that's "done moving air" on my 234whp setup

That guys setup is using a standalone and a t04e built for his motor... http://www.240sxforums.com/for...03884 thats his build thread.. also the stock turbo has been known to blow over 12psi just do a little searching. I do believe that you can possibly get it rebuilt with bigger steel wheels with a little bore on each side and get some good numbers.

I have seen them blow several times. It seems like there is a high school kid in the auto hobby shop here every weekend swapping turbines because he was running around at 14+psi. Besides, the factory RB turbine is WAY out of it's efficiency after 14.7 psi (1bar).

O, and I just watched that vid. That's for sure not a stock turbine. Sounded wastedgated and just like my old TO4e.

Mine blew at the track at 14psi. What's your stock turbo say on the compressor housing? Was it on the motor when you got it?

i cant count the number of members that have had stock turbos blow up. just search around and youll see its a well documented problem that has affected many people. ive witnessed it happen.

anything above 12-13 psi on the stock turbo is just heating air, its not going to make any more significant power. the stock RB20/25 turbos are too small.

My stock turbo went and I was at stock boost. Lots of nice shrapnel in my 3" cat.
