hi, sorry about the long post, but it was quite a story.

i was at planet nissan in vegas on monday and would just like to let you know of my experience there. when i arrived i was greeted by a sales person and asked what i was looking for. i said that i was interested in an 07 versa, but that i was just looking and definitely not making a decision or purchase this day. i said that we have a vehicle that is over 8 years old with over 100k miles on it and that we were thinking of maybe getting rid of it. the sales guy said that this is just fine and told me to come along, so he can show me the 07 versas that were left. we finally arrived on the back were i looked at a blue sl, which i really liked, i got the key, sat in it, looked it over from all angles - the usual thing. the price i was given was very good too.i declined the offer for a test drive, because i would want my wife to come along to that too. we live about 2 1/2 hours away, so i said that - if we decide to test that car and then get it - we would have to come back on the weekend. back at the office he introduced me to his boss, who asked me if i wanted to crunch o few numbers, considering my trade-in and so. i told him too that i was just the scout, looking at the car and that i would have to talk it over my my wife - which was fine with him too. eventually we sat down and talked about my trade-in and the price of the versa. i was also told that the best day to be here again would be friday, because that is the last day of the month, and i might even get an even better deal. the sales person told me he would be in contact with me within the next 72 hours and i left, not without making clear again that i was very interested, but not sure about taking the car.the next day i got a call from the sales guy telling me that we should come on friday, because it is the last day of the month and the incentives might not be given on saturday any more. i said that i will talk it over with my wife this evening and call him back wednesday or thursday. so we did and came to the conclusion that even though it was a good deal for the versa and the trade-in we would still hold on to the car we have for now and i was going to call the sales person on thursday about it.then on wednesday night after 8 o'clock i got a call from him asking about when we will come for the car and i told him that we decided not to through with the purchase - that's when his tone and the volume of it changed. he said that all it takes to buy a new car would be a pen and balls and that i came to him, stole 1 1/2 hours of his time, made him believe that i would buy the car and then tell him i wouldn't. he said that i have no character, that i should go back to where i came from (which is germany) and hung up.

Sorry to hear how rough they were on you. I have never been impressed with any dealership's sales force in Las Vegas (other than Douglas Nissan, who treated me very well, but has a very horrible service department, haha).

Good luck in your search.

The salesman may not expect to be in the business much longer and is letting everyone know that he is a short timer. Building bridges is what sales is all about. This idiot is not only burning bridges, he's bulldozing the remains just to make sure no good can come of it. I was a sales rep for a number of years and I have high expectations if I'm dealing with someone on commission. One of the reasons we purchased our Versa at this particular dealership was the sales rep. We ate up a few hours of her time and it looked like there wouldn't be a sale. She didn't change her demeanor. Just got another note from her a few weeks ago. Excellent followup.

Some sales people amaze me. A good salesman will take a lost sale and create a possible future sale by making it a pleasant experience. Others will take a lost sale personally and end up alienating a customer completely. I had a similar experience a number of years ago with a Ford dealership. The guy could have made it a good experience and I probably would have returned in the future and bought a car from him. Instead I now tell everyone I know to not purchase at that particular dealership.

Our salesman was very courteous toward us when we bought our V in August 2007. We bought one of the very first Vs available in north Texas. There weren't many available to see, let alone test drive. The saleman "sat on the car" until we could drive 35 miles to see it. The dealer already had a customer signing the paperwork for the red S six speed. We also took up some time before placing our deposit while the dealer located a hatchback S.

I totally agree the saleman was probably finding he wasn't meant to be a car salesman when he called to berate the customer for not buying. I guess they don't undstand people talk to each other about their experiences and will usually steer others away from certain dealers if treated poorly. Much of the time the salespeople set the tone for future dealer relationships.

We walked away from our long-time Honda dealer after they took copped an attitude over adding $5,000 to the invoice for a Fit. The price after add-ons exceeded a fully equipped Accord SE. The salesman did this even after explaining this was the first of four cars to be replaced within one year. The sales manager also took the same position. We had been customers for over 20 years. After a couple of months late last year, the sales department started bombarding us with "deals" to try to win back ourpurchases. Maybe someone noticed we were talking about 4 times as many purchases as the one Fit.

Well... I am from Las Vegas. I bought my Versa at Planet Nissan only because they bought my Xterra from me. I wanted to deal with Douglas as they are closer to my house but I know the parts manager and service manager at Planet (it pays to know people like them)... I got $1000 off the sticker, plus the incentives they had at the end of the month... I have always hated Planet Nissan sales dept, but figured I would give it a shot... I was actually impressed. I think it was because I told the sales lady that I know some of the managers there so they treated me well... Will I go back there again?? Not to the sales people cuz I hate car sales people... As for the other departments, yes... where else can I get parts at cost!

You live near Douglas and drove all the way to Planet? Dang! Good thing that you ended up with a good deal. I hate that drive.

Hell yea the drive sucks! Especially near the spaghetti bowl... but it was worth it. I only spent a few hours total and got the car I wanted... I just wish it had a sunroof and fog lights like the CVT SL with sport package that was parked next to it...
