ok i have a 98 i30 (love it) i was wondering if i could put a g35 coupe exhaust in it and if i would still get the same sound that the g35 coupe produces.

The G35 has a different shaped exhaust system then the Maxima. That will change the sound. The G35 also has a 3.5L engine, which will be a HUGE factor in sound. So no, unfortunately, that won't get you the sound you're looking for. The different turns and angles that the exhaust pipes are bent in, and the diameter of the pipes, as well as engine size, intake and size of resonator and muffler, and wether it is a California emissions or a Federal emissions will change the sound as well.

we also cant forget that you have to lose the spare tire and cut that area out.

That does not defeat your options of a nice sounding Max though. There are many sick sounding Catbacks avalible for the Maxima in really any Gen. Mostly the best ones are in the Gen 4 and Gen 5. The best that people mostly put on is the Greddy Catback SP2 with a Y-pipe and maybe a high flow cat. IF you want to go the cheaper route, check out the Pacesetter Catbacks. They are nice sounding but they do not last very long do to the metal they use(hence half the price of a greddy).
