I have 91K on my V, just yesterday on the way home from work the exhaust got really loud and a super annoying vibration that sounded like it was coming from below the E brake handle started. Great... once I got home I looked underneath and it looks like the exhaust pipe going into the first muffler (resonator? Whatever, the one in the middle of the car, not the rear one) isn't connected anymore. I didn't get real close since there's snow everywhere and I didn't want to get all wet. Has anyone else had their exhaust rust off right there? Could I get lucky and just need a new clamp or something? How about fumes, am I gonna die if I just leave it until I can afford to replace it? (Like March if things keep going like they are). I've had exhausts rust off other cars, but usually in the back by the muffler, not the middle of the car.
And are aftermarket exhausts "worth it" for a DD or are they mostly for looks/louder tone? Plus, is it just the very rear that they sell?
Thanks.

I've seen many Versa's come in with the exhaust breaking at the rear just before the muffler and then it rattles against the rear suspension beam. If it's between the cat and the resonator the fumes could come into the passenger compartment and could be toxic. Your best bet is to take it to an exhaust shop and have it welded back up. Around here that usually costs 30-40 dollars.
