EX35 Exhaust Note

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

$200 seems high, but even though it is a 2008, it sounds like it could be almost 'new'? ... I bought an entire 2011 G37S coupe exhaust for $80..I used the muffler and the mid-pipe then I sold the Y pipe by itself for $40...so I am only out $40 so far, and I still have the EX muffler and mid-pipe for sale, cheap, so this upgrade should end up costing nothing (or even making you a couple bucks!)

AWGD8 - quick question... I have watched your videos, first just the muffler change and then the mid-pipe change also. I do like the sound of the mid-pipe change on top of the muffler.
* Can you tell me if it helped your MPG and acceleration responsiveness?
* Also - Was it a direct swap? I have read some places that you need to remove just under 2 inches so the hooks line up, but I also read that was just for the AWD versions and the RWD versions are the same?
I can probably just take it to a shop to have them do either way, but I was curious to know before I went through the effort!

Thanks!

Sorry, very delayed response.
Yes, you need to cut and reweld the single tube of the midpipe (Y-pipe side) , not exactly sure how much now (but you can use the search button here) I believe NJguy did measure exactly how much.
Then the bracket for the mid pipe can also be cut off and reweld to align with the bushing holder. Pretty easy task when you go to the muffler shop.
This will keep both the exhaust tip flushed to the bumper and don't stick out.

MPG still suck! LOL!

I didn't cut anything, and I hammered the brackets to bend them enough to connect in the correct spots. The tips do stick out a good inch or so and that's OK / looks just fine to me.

You really don't need to cut it, but I decided to do it after I few months. I prefer the stock flush look.

I've been keeping an eye on local classified ads for a coupe exhaust. Only thing to come up so far was for a sedan, but I'm driving my s2000 until November or when the snow falls anyway. If I don't find something by then it's no big deal.

Is there much sound difference between a stock, or S exhaust?

Any chance you could post a pic here?

It looks like I need a new 'free' image host. I will see what I can do, or you can message me your email address or phone and I can email them or text them to you

Hi Guys,

Here is the thread I created back in 2014 with pictures of before (pic at beginning of thread)and after (Pic at the end of the thread)

The thread also discussed how much the midpipe need to be cut and reweld where.

Thanks for posting this! Interesting to see that swapping just the muffler actually gives a louder exhaust note than swapping in the Y and mid as well. This was very helpful. I think I'll start with just swapping the muffler then, I think that will give me what I want. Then some K&N air filters and possibly intakes, and that'll be it performance wise.

You guys are welcome! :dblthumb:

Also check out AFe Pro Dry S air filter.

I prefer these drop in filter than the K&N.

I had a pair for my EX35 and now moved them to my
Q40 awd. No oil needed (re oiling etc) and as long as you changed oil every 3.5k miles (regular oil) or 5k miles (synthetic) It's cool!
