I'm thinking about picking up a second long block to build up for some extra ponies... Do all of the engines swap out from 260hp to 280hp and the Rev-up engine and all that? I'm planning on turboing it, so I'd like to beef up as much before hand as possible, and maybe make the swap easier.

I think the block and crank are the same, but the pistons and rods are likely different from the rev-up models. The heads are different as the rev-up models have VTC on the exhaust and intake cams. The pre-rev-ups only had VTC on the intake only.

To my knowledge, the 260 HP and the 280 HP versions are the same mechanically.

i would just get another same.or try a 4.0 block from nissan pathfinder.the more the factory hops it up,the harder for you to modify it.ive seen rods crack through blocks, stock.those be the first to replace

Is the pathfinder block identical to the G35 block, just bored out? Cuz that would be pretty sweet... What are the differences there? I actually got a smokin' deal on an 03 G35 with 91k miles, but it burns oil BAAADDDD. What can I do to keep this one runnin' for the short run? Say, next 2 months? I'll pull the engine at that time, but I'd like to get a little time in between...

Keep putting oil in it. Not sure what else to do. Ask one of the techs on here.
