i have a 2001 pathfinder and im thinking about swapping the vq35de for the fx45's VK45DE. has anyone out there attempted this? if so let me know how things went. also i hate the fact that they come with rear drum, does anyone have any tips on how to convert it?

ps: im a mechanic but i dont know much about cross breeding engines and converting brakes etc......

I dont know specifically but I can brain storm some ideas from other engine swaps I have seen:

Since the FX35 (VQ35DE) and FX45(VK45DE) are the same chassie, It is possible that FX45 mounts could be used to make the physical swap bolt in, assuming the crossmembers are the same. There would still probably be electrical issues to sort out though. Additionally the Armada might share the same crossmember, so those mounts might be used as well.

Obivously custom mounts is always an option. You still have to concider the size of the VK compared to that of your engine bay. It might be required to use slim electrical fans instead of the stock fan.

I'd really like to see someone put the turbo diesel in a R50. Due to the fact that mine is a daily driver... I think I might just go with a S/C setup.
