My wife is the (still) proud owner of a 2007 Versa SL Hatch, w/CVT, 42K miles. The car has been pretty much trouble free all this time. But as of late, when braking to a stop, and just as the car completely halts, there is a momentary "stumbling" of the engine.

Otherwise, Idle, acceleration -all are fine, but this issue has my wife (and me) concerned. Any feedback?

Also, what should I be doing to the car by now (other than the oil and filters changes)?

By the way, I am new to your forum. Personally,I drive a Miata, and have found that owner's site very useful. I really hope this one is, too!

Ron

I had a similar issue when I filled up on a road trip and got gas that had too much ethanol in the gas and it would stumble every time I would come to a stop. once i got fuel at another station that had less ethanol in their fuel the problem went away.

At 42K you should have replace the air filter, cabin air filter, a Coolant flush, tire rotation, you should check the cars alignment once every year to prolong the life of your tires plus keeps the car steering straight. In 18k miles you will be due for the CVT transmission flush.

Btw welcome to the forums we hope to help in any way we can, feel free to browse through the forum lots of topics and the search button is a help as well.

Thank you for all the advice, alonsorules8.1 -She does pretty much always fill at the same Hess station. I will encourage her to try Chevron or Shell. All the other maintenance is kept up otherwise.

Mine does the same thing At the end of braking to stop.Drops 300 rpm then come back up to idle. Anyone have any clues? 2009 cvt 1.8 eng 46000 miles second engine has 22000 on it. 1st failed i was assuming it might be a loose vacumn hose the dealer say's it would throw a code.
Other than that runs like a top.

sorry to bring this back from the dead but I wanted to see if anyone has found the problems thats causing this.

I have an 08 Versa SL (CVT) 59,000KM. I have the same problem, when I come to a stop idle drops and sometimes it stubbles for a bit. I do regular oil changes at the dealer. I even had the dealer look at it and they tried relearning idle but still nothing, also no codes come up.

I'm used to honda so I'm a little lost to why this is doing this.

Thanks in advance
