It seems like the pressure was the problem but I just had to wait some time before starting it up. Maybe I did not prime long enough for sufficient fuel pressure to be in the lines?
If the car has not been used for more than 2 days the fuel pressure bleeds off and it is hard to start. The best thing is to turn on the ignition, wait 5 seconds and then try to start the car. If I don't wait and let the fuel pump pressurize the fuel rails after the car has been sitting for a few days it will not catch and run; if I wait 5 secs it starts fine.
