Sup guys~! Alright, check it fellas, I was riding wit my girl (my real girl, not the RPS13) and this Excursion starts to rev up on me and takes of...caught up wit him later on and decided I should show him what the RPS13 can do. I take him off the line, go to second, but I missed 3rd and it went into 5th(my girl was shifting for me). The engine still worked, but when I put in in gear and gas it, the rev would drop and I wouldnt go nowhere. E-brake light, Oil and the Seat belts went on in the dash, but after I shut the car off, turned it back on, everything was fine. To make things short, I just want to know if the RPS13 has an emergency engine shut off mechanism built in for precautionary purposes. Thanks~!!!

one possibility is thatwhen you miss shifted you bog down the motor and it threatned to stall, causing the lights to go on, but did not stall...that's my guess

man your are not smart at all to let some one else in the passenger seat shift your gears!!! ESPECIALLY while your racing, just asking for a problem.

But anyway shifitng from 2nd to 5th will not cause the engine to bog, b/c your were racing which means your were probly going about 50-60 miles an hour when you shifted out of 2nd, and that speed is a fine for 5th gear. So something else happened!

I don't no what is more aggrevating; the possibility that you were seriously letting some else shift while you were driving or your atrocious assault on the English language.

Look, all you guys are doin is raggin~! I just want to know if there's an emergency feul cutoff that the ka24de engages when you do something potentially hazardous to the engine...who cares 'bout my language or who shifts for me???? At least I KNOW how to spell~!!!(themadscientist) KNOW is different from NO. Now if anyone else out there can actually come up with a REAL answer to my question, then everything'll be coo~!

You did something that isn't supposed to happen to the car and it did weird stuff back. Did the problem go away completely when you restarted it? Does it do it when you accelerate and shift up through the gears (by yourself) like normal? If so I wouldn't worry about it, Carmakers love to stick annoying cuts and limiters in the computer to piss us off. This sounds a lot like the boost cut in an MR-2. Also, in the future, if you expect a serious answer don't write your question like a fugitive from a Spike Lee movie and I think people will take you more seriously. Love and kisses Mad

Well, this is the first time this has ever happened to me, and it never happened to me with my 93 del Sol. Hmmm, boost cut in the MR2??? I think that's not what it was. I killed the car, started it back up, and then everything was normal again...seeemed like the engine was on idle, transmission was working, but the gas wasn't feeding through...so is there an emergency fuel cut off that engages when something hazardous happens????

ps - I understand what you mean Mad, sorry if I sounded a little hostile, just really wanted answers not insults. PEACE~!

I was just bustin your balls, hope you didn't take it personal. The MR2 cut I mentioned felt like you suddenly hit a wall of Jello and after you tripped it the car would not go past about 2000 rpm until you restarted the ignition. Both my Skyline and Silvia have speed cuts that cause wicked misfires obove 180kph (just when it's starting to get fun) but when you slow down it immediately goes away, no restart required. It sounds like a cut but not a "Nissan style" cut. Maybe the U.S. spec is different in what it limits and how. You say RPS13, do you have a J-spec SR in it or something? there are wire in modules by HKS and or Trust that defeat any cut; speed, rev, boost if you want them gone.

Ah yes, must have put the contact lenses in backwards again. It affects my heat-vision too.

Dont worry, I dont take things personally. I really doubt it would've been the speed limiter (too slow), but I really think its a fuel cut off mechanism. All I felt was loss of power and no response whatsoever upon stepping on the gas pedal.

i've missed gears before (and i didn't need someone else's help to do it either, thank u very much :-P) and that's never happened. It really really sounds like u bogged it somehow. If he was still half-*** on the clutch & put it in 5th from second, couldn't it bog down?

Nope, the clutch wouldn't let the power out of the flywheel. I'm pretty sure it wasnt anything serious, I just dont want to do it again. I had to bail out on the race and restart the freakin car. I didn't actually missed the shift, now that I recall. My girl just put it in 5th, didnt scratch or anything...just that fuel cutoff feeling...

Make sure the wire from the coil to distributor is nice and snug. I stalled going into 3rd one time at the dragstrip, i felt really stupid, they had to tow my *** out the track. It felt like fuel cut, so check that.

I may have a similar problem... running in 3,4,or 5 if I'm easy on the gas no problem but if i try to hammer it the engine seems to die until I press the clutch, then everything is fine until I try it again. Seems to do it just around 4+ rpm. Any ideas?... Oh yeah already tried new plugs wires cap and rotor, but nothing

I've actually run into a problem like that when I had a S13. Miss a shift, and the motor would die until you turn the key all the way back and then you can turn it back on. It only happened to me if I bounced off the rev limiter real hard or several times.

ctxmojo: I think your problem is entirely different.
