I've searched high and low for this answer but i haven't had any luck. i understand that a cam in a FI l28 is pointless unless you're wanting to change the stock fuel system, which i'm not. My question is whether or not higher compression would require more fuel or a change in the fuel system. The only thing that comes to my mind is higher octane fuel but I have no idea. thanks for any info.

most people seekign to make power in these cars either swap the injection in favor of carbs, or run an injected turbo system, and there are some that have swapped the turbo electronics onto the n/a engine with some success, or for the ultimate a stand alone such as megasquirt opens up a world of potential

the stock managment only works within a certain range, it can support a little more power but not much, wether it's higher compression or a cam, ultimately if you plan to make much more than stock power you're gonna need to change the way the engine manages it's fuel

at the moment all im trying to accomplish is a 20-40 horsepower increase over stock because i still have to pass smog standards in california and if i modify the fuel system i'll be catching crap for it.

move ;)

someone could put a megasquirt ecu into a stock ecu case using the stock harness and have a car that looks completely stock and actually runs better, cleaner and mroe powerful than stock ;) after all the bosch system has no data port for them to test

alright thats a great idea. so then id be looking at megasquirt and new injectors? how hard is megasquirt to tune? I was also wondering what parts i would need. Just the megasquirt ECU? or what? because if i was using the original harness i wouldnt think id have too much to worry about.

some racing class had a rule that ecu was unlimited so long as it was inside the stock ecu case, so it's been done

the trick is getting all the wiring to match up, megasquirt can be setup to use the stock injectors and stock afm in place of an aftermarket iat, Im not that familiar iht the stock n/a injcetion but I think it only controls fuel so you still on't have spark control unless you got real creative, megasquirt offers a lot of options but also requires a lot of homeork, the turbo electronics conversion might also be an option for you, also the vg30e electronics can be swapped over and tumed wiht a romulator
