clean the plugs, new wires, cap and rotor. change the oil and run Chevron with Techron if you can get it.

If you could post your emissions results, nox, co2, etc. It would make it easier to diagnose the problem

good luck

my problem is with NOx it spikes real high throughout the whole test I can post all of the #s if they would help.My hydrocarbons+CO2 are low though :) thanks to the new cat. I would definately suggest the catco 3" cat to anyone.

i think high nox are an indication that the fuel isnt completely burning. I could be wrong though, i get this stuff mixed up alot. Anyway, maybe your not getting enough air with your fuel. Is your air filter clean? Your injectors could be dirty. An oxygen sensor could cause this by messing up the mixture, but i would think it would set a code if the emisions were bad enough to fail.

good luck

You might want to check and see if SRs are legal in your state before you spend the money on one. The way I understand it, every state that does the "emmissions on a dyno" test will fail any car that has a motor that has never come from the factory in an american market car (like the SR), though some states with the old idle test might be banning them too. I'd love to get one, but I'm in New Jersey and we're competing with California in the Most Draconian Emmissions Regulations contest.

As to your NOx problem, the EGR system is what fights that specifically, but I think anything that makes the engine run lean will increase your NOx. Exhaust leaks apparently don't help either. Both my 240 and my Escort GT wouldn't pass for NOx until I'd fixed exhaust leaks in them.

I'm sure the SR is not legal in my state but, whatever if I pass emissions first I have 2 years before the next test and they never pop the hood or anything so I could be able to eek by...

I dont think I have any exhaust leaks but it wouldn't surprise me with the stock 10 year old exhaust...I plan on picking up a new EGR valve has anyone replaced one before? or should I sayF*** it and take it to a shop spend like 300 bux and get the emmisions waived if it still fails?
