So, I've failed emissions twice now. The engine has no emission reducing systems (except cat). The second time I went i had only 3 cylinders running (on purpose) to reduce the levels. I did, only for Co. It went fron a 2.27 to .18, unfortunately hydrocarbons went up from 322ppm to 354ppm, (what could have caused this). Ive tried hooking up the egr for the next test(the best i could) and was wondering if there was anything else i could do to "cheat" the system. The best i could think of is run methanol. And yes im a cheater and i dont care

Edit: Should add that it is impossible to find a "bad" inspector who for a certain amount of green makes you pass.

use denatured alky, my s13 was a GP and I used 2 gallons of alky in a close to empty tank and I passed with flying colors.

I've had a few friends of mine who have been through this dilehma. They had their tags and licences changed to a county that doesn't require emissions. It's pretty ballin'. I'm going to have to do that too once my sh*t starts running.
