i noticed your name and comments in threds involving a p1400 code. egrc solenoid. my problem is a bad one my car wont pass inspection. egrc solenoid tested out fine. i guess teh problem is or culd be clogged egr pipes? been driven around with a R sticker for 16 months. its a matter of time before i get a huge fine. cant figure this problem out..hopefully its the clogged tubes. can u help

ok i gave myself a 5 minute crash course on 3rd gen maxima EGR system..

The way this code gets thrown is by the ECU not seeing the correct voltage at a given pin (103) and ECU ground (25)... At idle it should see 0, and at 3000 RPM no load it should see battery voltage (11-14v)...

How did you test the solenoid to be good? The FSM says what you can do is hold the engine at 3000 RPM in park or neutral and unplug/plug the harness connector in and you should hear it operate.... Try that, if it doesnt make an operating noise then something else is wrong. If you have trouble hearing it you can try taking the solenoid off its mounting place and holding it while connecting and disconnecting the connector... you should be able to feel it click.

Unfortunately i do not think a clogged EGR would cause this code because its all electrical in nature... I could see it throwing a P1401 (EGR temp sensor) for a clogged EGR but not a P1400.
