Check your fuses in the Fuse Box, especially #40, 7.5A. Refer to the attached, pages EL-11 and EL-18 for more info.

I have checked all the fuses, and replaced nearly all of them, all of the fuses seem to be good through a visual inspection and with a meter. I forgot to mention that all of theses problems started after my wife tried to jump start the car and crossed the leads. I could not get the link you posted to work.

That's too bad. The link should be available if you have a decent internet connection. Check the fusible links (where the main + battery terminal goes (aside from the starter).I hope the ECU is not 'fried.'

other than just looking at the fusible links how can you determine if they are good or bad?

Use a DVM to check continuity of the fusible inks. There are circuit breakers (resettable) also in your car. As for ECU faiiure, depending on the extet of the damage, the car may or may not start. If it runs, most likely in 'limp' mode (cylinders firing at the same time and RPM limited to <3000). If your car is still runs, try disconnecting the MAF sensor then start the car. If the ECU is working, the CEL must come on and with an OBD II scanner (free from Autozone and the likes) it should indicate trouble code P0100 (MAF sensor problem).

I will check those fusible links. In the book i have i can locate the circuit breaker but when it comes to finding one on the car i cannot. Do you have an idea where it would be located. My book doesnt give a good explanation as to where it is located.

My ecu cannot be read with a OBD II scanner, because of the model of car. I checked the codes myself on the ecu and the only codes that come up are egr valve, speed sensor and one for the atu. but after i checked the codes the check engine light stays on and i have fixed all the problems.

The CBs are located near the main fuse box (driver side) together with some other relays. Refer to the earlier link I gave you, especially pages EL-283 and EL-284.

As far as I know, 95 Maxima is OBD II compliant though DOT made it mandatory only in 1996. Nissan was ahead of this game. Besides, it belongs to 4th Gen and it doesn't make sense to have different ECUs from one model year to the next. Better have a scan and print any trouble code since the CEL is still ON.
