electrical problem ?!?!?!?

i have a 96 240 sx i pull in my driveway shut the car off and go out .i come back in to start it ,it wont start.i also notice the alternator isn't charging. i buy a new alternator and a starter i put them both in and go to connect the battery terminal and the car starts cranking over but the key isnt even in the ignition. any ideas?

is this an autozone starter? i think you have a faulty starter.
