I searched but did not read through all the pages returned.

I check Q45.org.

Today, after putting in the new NICO ECU I took a test drive. On the way home while sitting at a red light with my left turn signal on I notice the my "traction" light (I always drive with traction control off unless the streets are wet) and my two odometer displays were dimming when the signal turned on.

I turned off the head lights ( my version of daytime running lights) and still thought I saw a little dimming in sync with the turn indicator.

I was idleing at about 600 rpm.

Do I have an alternator problem? I have a VOM. How would I check?

Thanks for the help.

Bruce

Check your battery first with a deep cycle test. Then check your alternator drive belts and pulleys, then the alternator itself.

OK. Will do.

The battery is some small cheesy thing the previouse owner put in.

A visual of the belt and everything "looked" OK.

Autozone will do a battery/alternator test for free, and they have an amazing tester to do so.

Wes,

Yesterday after I put on the shock tower bar, and put in the NICO ECU, and took my drive I looked under hood one more time to check the belt.

Yep, it was there.

After your suggestion I drove to Autozone and had them check it with their machine.

Alternator was fine and battery was good, but.... I noticed that as he put the negative connection on, the battery clamp moved.

It was, at best, finger tight. The salesman put a crimp on the connector and banged it on good and tight.

No more dimming dash lights.

It sure it great to occasionally get a bargain.
