Via some definitions it is also considered as descriminating against another based on race alone.

You can be part of the first of many things, being part of the first group of people to run off a cliff en masse for example but that doesn't mean it's a good idea. Wait, you are voting for someone based solely on them being black, you are part of that group.

So you have in one fell motion pointed out three things i would like to itemize

1. You are racistBy voting for him based solely on the fact that he is black you have made a decision based on race.

2. You are sexistBy voting for him based solely on the fact that he is black MAN you have made a decision based on sex. Hillary would have broken a barrier, she could have been a first too.

3. You are scaryYou do not demonstrate good decision making skills but you get to cast a vote that could affect all of us.
How come your post doesnt say "last edited by..." at the bottom?? Last time I saw this post it only had one line: "That's ****in stupid; people like you are scary."

Because the "last edited" only comes up for members and not "staff". It helps us abuse the system

Guess he wanted to expound on that for future readers.

I voted for McCain because he's White and I want to keep the first Democratic Black candidate from becoming President. Am I a racist?

Does race play a role...yep, I'd like to keep a White Man in office because I can be sure that they don't have some kind of anti white social agenda and I don't think a women should be in charge of anything. So I'm defending my own civil rights and the rights of my children by keeping a White Man president. Does that make me racist, yep, do I care...nope.

I'm Scottish/Irish/Welsh, my Scottish ancestors were raped and pillaged before America existed...GTF over it already.

*edit*Great thread Matt

I think that makes you more paranoid than racist, unless you harbor a dislike of blacks solely because of their skin color. Then you would be paranoid and racist

What if he does not dislike the people themselves, just the color of their skin?

The same could be said about the people who believe the world magically appeared over the course of a week.

There are extreme factions of both groups, and in both, the extremists are a minority.

So, I read the article, and it's more or less just some writer's stream of consciousness and doesn't really point to anything concrete. From an analytical point of view, it seems to be little more than propaganda.

Only Conservatives show the ability for give and take politics. The Democrats simply take because they are adamant that they know what is best for everyone.

The conservatives did not give and take one inch when Tom DeLay "The Hammer" was in charge of Congress.

The only irony I see is you trying to be clever. You aren't ready for complex concepts like irony yet, don't reach past your ability. You are willing to vote for anybody just to say you were part of a first. Kinda puts you at the mental equivalent of wearing a poopy diaper.

I find it amusing that you think continually lobbing veiled insults is going to get me to do the same, in which case I would be reprimanded for "personal attacks."

Baiting the opposition of the argument to engage in such illicit behavior just shows you're grasping for straws here.

I set the tone so if I start it I would absolutely not penalize you for reciprocating, fair is fair. I completely disagree with everything you said but I would not stifle your ability to say it kind sir. I have seen what you speak of though, not here but other places and its rediculous. Seriously though what are you trying to say by quoting me?

I think this election is just another where we have to pick a lesser of two evils. Both candidates have parts of their "plan" that I do not agree with. What makes it even more difficult is that I cannot call myself liberal nor conservative. My position depends on the issue. I'm against corporate America and have no issue paying extra to small businesses in order to not support corporations, however, Im for state biased government. I think victimless crimes waste our tax dollars to prosecute, however, I am a strong advocate of the death penalty.

That being said, a couple of things are swaying be towards Obama at the moment. First, I dont agree with the methods the current office used to get us in the war in Iraq, but I agree that an "immediate" removal of our forces could be equally ignorant. I would like to see a plan put in place to start making that move in a somewhat expedited manner. McCains 100 year statement just rubbed me the wrong way and reminded me of the current administrations stubbornness to admit possible errors in the decision making process. My second problem is McCains age and medical history. Having lost a couple of family members to melanoma, I understand that it can come back with a vengeance and wipe someone out in weeks or maybe months, even after years of remission. I will be looking at his choice for VP very closely before I make a decision on that point.

In Obamas case, Im not sure a more socialistic program would ever work in the US. As much as I like it, it doesnt really fit with our culture. Im nervous of his inexperience and history doesnt show much good coming from charismatic leaders.

Im not 100% sold on who I will vote for, but at this point Im leaning towards Obama. If Hillary is his running mate it will probable sway me more towards McCain. I feel that Hillary has been a fence rider her entire political career. She waits to see what the party wants before she places her foot on the ground.

While I don't care for Mac based upon his global warming and open boarders policies, the "100 years" is a bit played out and is totally used outside of what he actually stated

Bush has tried his hardest in the last eight years to blow up the world and ruin the country. If a sinister right wing monster like him fails at that I don't see how either Obama or McCain will be able to succeed. Although at this point McCain has a rolling start as far as finishing the country off. I don't like Hilary because she is an obvious political animal and just another democratic slug lining up to sway things back towards the liberal side of things while trying not to rock the boat. If that doesn't scare you, when else in our country's history has 16 years of our country's political fate been decided by two families? If that doesn't concern you then plz go pick up a history book and look and see where that kind of stuff gets you. And before anyone else has a chance to bring it up: Yes I am violently left wing when it comes to %90 of the issues. I that Social responsibility amongst the upper class (upper middle class and above) is where our country is falling apart at the seams. On the other hand I think its my right as a non felon, responsible citizen to own an assault rifle, even in my suburban neighborhood, hippie neighbors be damned.

To be honest, Obama strikes me as being similar to Carter. In experienced and niave. Listening to my parents talk (at the time they were not conservatives) about Jimmy Carter they never had anything good to say about him. They feel that he came the closest with his policies to putting this country under. I am sorry, I dont want to go back to the 1970's. I didnt think times were 'that great.'

And dont get me started on Maryland Gun Laws and the Politicians. As I always say, "Maryland, not a bad place to be born and visit from time to time. But I wouldnt want to live there."

wow, earily similar with the obama/carter comparison. Yeah I hardly consider the 70's the halcyon days that most of my friends do (I.E Smot pokers) but times have been worse and better IMO. maybe the Dem ticket would balance itself out with hilary/obama running together. The new idealist/socialist and the filthy swine political manamil lol

That's fine, you can stay in Indianapolis.

UNRELATED: I would LOVE to go back to the 1970's, back before the religious organizations ruined the Republican Party.
