Is this the real deal or a fake gimmick. It says it reprograms your existing ecu. Has anyone used something like this?

That's the Link to Drapes chip I posted a few days back.

If you have fairly good soldering skills it would be worth it. But you will need to install a socket for the new eprom so you can put the old one back, so it will pass emissions if your state test for such.

Most reprograms leave things alone below 2,750-3,000 rpms and at part throttle to avoid emission problems.............negating the need to swap chips back to oem.

After all a reprogram can only lean the WOT mixture and add a few degrees of advance as the rpms climb to remove what ever SAFETY the factory built in for wear and tear and defective low quality gasoline......... nothing else you can change in parameters will change anything.

yah i bought his chip and had it put in a 300zx ecu. havent had it dynoed yet with it though. the consult program is a must for obd1 J30's. i leave mine plugged up with a usb cable in the dash so i can just plug in my laptop and read what going on with my car.
