It is the metal wire with the probe on it that goes into the fan. that turns my flex a lite fans on when it gets worm. my ? is is there a way i can hook them up with a new thermal switch. without spending the money on a new one from flex a lite seeing how i dont have the money right now. i dont want to hook them up with a toggle switch or on full time thanks for your help

Basically, no. That "wire" isn't so much a wire, as a very small tube. The bulb that goes into the radiator has fluid in it that expands and contracts with changes in temperature. The fluid is carried up to the switch where the wires are at and turns the switch on and off. Once the tube is cut, it's ruined.
