Installing my Pioneer AVIX 910, I followed the suggestions on this board and put in a toggle switch between the green parking brake wire and ground. Worked fine, sort of.

I could watch a DVD while I was parked in the garage, but as soon as the car got some speed, it knew it was moving (that speed sensor wire) and shut off the picture. It's the same with the Address feature of the GPS. I got a screen telling me that my parking brake connection was not right.

So, how can I enable DVD and the GPS Address feature, so they will work while the car is moving?

The brake and ground wire are connected through the switch. The problem is the speed wire. With the car moving, the system defaults back to the "safe"mode - no picture, no address feature in GPS.

I don't plan to watch movies while I'm driving, but I do like to bypass systems I don't like to have more control.

I thought the bypass was for the factory head unit?

The parking brake wire is grounded, and the viseo works fine when the car is stopped. If the car is moving, it will not show a video. The speed sensor wire tells the computer that it is moving. There must be a step that I am missing.

So the switch will kill the speed sensor and let the DVDs play. Sounds good. That'll be my next project - taking everything apart again to get at the radio.

Thanks,Jerry

So I leave the parking brake wired grounded all the time and switch off the speed wire when I want to play a DVD or enter an address into the GPS.

What's the downside of switching off the speed wire?

the downside is it wont track your position on the navigation while the switch is off. but as soon as you switch it back on, it will work.
