Car is a 1999 Infiniti I30 with 248,000 miles.

I purchased this car last summer for my son to have as a first high school car.

When driving the car over a speed bump, the front end would bounce and it would make a sound like the front end was about to come loose.. Ok so bad struts for starters.

So today I replaced the struts and other front end components listed below

1) Tokico Blues -- with new upper strut mounts (top hats)
2) New Moog sway bar end links with poly bushings
3) New ball joints
4) New wheel bearings
5) New axles/CV joints and seals

Everything that was replaced needed to be replaced -- period..

So I take it for a test drive down the street -- it certainly drives better..

However, when I crossed the first speed bump, I could hear a thump noise and feel a loose feeling with the front end that was there before I replaced everyting.

Last summer, I replaced basically the same components on the 95 Maxima and it now drives like a new car -- or possibly more responsive than new.. Not so much luck with the I30.

So I'm looking for things to check..

Could an extremely worn lower control arm bushing be the culprit? When I removed the lower control arm to replace the ball joint, the rear bushing could be easily removed from the arm.. It was tight once I re-positioned it to install the arm -- but not so tight that it couldn't be removed like the passenger side..

Could power rack mounts give that type of feel or could it be some type of motor mount?

With the looseness of your CAB, it sounds like that is your issue.

Look at the sway bar bushings as well as those are known to get noisy with age...Otherwise you have replaced the majority of parts so it's bound to be "what's left" :)

Might as well replace the tie rod ends while you're in there changing out the rest of the front suspension. You just about covered everything else already.

I'm about to figure out the noise is from motor mounts.. Stay tuned..
