Hi guys, just bought myself a used 2010 G37 Sedan and I admit I am not car savy. I was trying to read up on the DS mode in the car's manual but it didn't really break down for me when i'm supposed to shift if i want to drive the car "aggressively". Can anyone breakdown for me when i should shift to each next gear and at what RPM each time? THANKS!!!

Depends on how agressive you are driving. Really agressive you are shifting a few hundred before the redline. but when doing that in 3rd/4th gear your going to be going over 100mph.

Its really get used to the car. For a while leave it in Drive and watch/feel for when the car shifts itself, that will give you a baseline to use.

I use DS auto mode most of the time...If I'm getting ready to pass someone...Manual mode is great for track use.

+1 red lining 3rd is about 100 mph... red lining 4th and you almost to the limiter of the car LOL

but for a quick zero to 60 you will only need to shift 1st and 2nd at about 6000+rpm... (assuming full throttle) first gear revs very quick... and 2nd gear pulls hard, if you miss a gear the car will tap brakes. Missing the second to third shift is a kill joy LOL

as you get used to the car the engine noise as it gets close to redline will be distinct and the noise of the engine when you need to shift in general will become distinct.

BUT at the drag strip i use DS mode and i do not manually shift as it will shift at redline for you. fun times!

car will not let you do a dumb down shift if you are going too fast or upshift if you are going too slow... its not like a nanny sysstem of most tip tronic trannys... as you can redline a gear all day if you want and shift up or down as long as its a "safe shift"
