Everyone has a theory, and just about each can find ways to back it up as the best. Probably anything short of either revving to redline every gear immediately is fine. But yes, changing the oil + filter after you first go through whatever initial startup procedure you choose is, if not a must, a damn good idea. There will be TONS of **** in there. Then after whatever breakin period you choose also, I did ~500 miles myself..

What I did was to hold the idle at ~2000 RPM for 20 min, on recomendation of a local shop. So far so good.

Of course we were also trying to get the coolant bleeding done at the same time which was a bit complicated, but it was late December so it could have been worse.

if the motor smokes for a while in the begining check it out, but its probably fine. also, i recmoned to do the heater hoses before the engine is all the way in. thats about it.also if its rwd set the motor in the mounts, then do transmission mount, or else the motor can be crooked.

I this a rebuild or did you just "freshen it up" and now you're dropping it in?

Not sure if you did it yet, but change EVERY coolant and vac line. Some of them are very hard to get to with the motor in.

Good advice, but the FWD CA's coolant lines and vacuum lines are easily accessible.
