Don't do it! You risk flooding your engine with fuel as well as a few other driveability issues. The ecu relies on calculations from this sensor and if there's no feedback from it, the ecu will go into a failsafe mode.

with it on, my car runs like crap. and yes, i have a band new sensor. i got flat spots inbetween auto gear changes. i hit the accelerator hard and the car doesnt respond, the revs go high, but no actual response on the road...

with it off it fixes the problem by about 70%. the issue is still there, but nowhere near as bad.

mechanics are saying its a bad auto trans - but i dont beleive that is right. im sure a manual conversion will do the trick, but there needs to be a solution... something else is stuffing up...

Your TPS, leaks in plumbing, dirty afm, bad 02 sensor, etc. could be the cause of your issues. You may even want to change the sensor if you haven't done so already because its values may be out of range. Have you done a diagnostic check on your ecu? You don't need the mechanic to do that, either.

ive done a diagnostic test and everything comes back as 55 - so according to the ecu i have no problems.

ive tried adjusting the tps according to the manual, all readings from testing it are good. maybe im not rotating it properly...? i know its meant to be rotated to set the idle switch, and ive done that ccording to the manual as well.

ive cleaned the afm, and have checked for leaks as well. everything is fine.

on a side note, does anyone know where i can get a japanese ca18det manual from?
