Often times when I use my key fob or car key to lock the doors, the driver's rear door won't look. I noticed that the lights weren't blinking sometimes when I used the fob to lock up. The last time it happened I went to check and see if the doors were closed since the lights won't blink if a door is ajar. All the doors are closed snuggly but I have to lock the rear door manually. It won't lock with the fob or by turning the key in the drive's door. Anyone ever have this happen?

Does it lock pressing the "lock" button on the driver's side door? Does the dome light come on when the LR door is opened?

Not all the time for the first question and yes for the latter. It is an intermittant situation but the dome light comes on regularly and consistently.

See my post in Infiniti General titled "Help, Key Stuck" I loaded uo the driver door lock cylinder with WD40 to cure a sticking key problem and solved a problem with the locks popping open on either all the doors or one at a time. May not be the same issue but certainly a quick and cheap try.

Just ran into the driver's rear door lock problem outlined above.

Don't know if it's cold related or not. The lock won't move one way or the other, either by key, key fob, or inside button.

All others working fine.

I think the cold makes all cars intermittently cranky. We'll see

lock actuator has likely gone south. replace it and all should be good. the electrical portion of it is malfunctioning internally.

Where is the malfuncting electrical actuator located. Please tell me in the door panel as I have a complete spare door panel with all switches.

hmmm....does the actuator control the lower door light as well?

That light won't come on when the door is opened. And I know the bulb is fairly new. The window doesn't go down, either....in other words....all electricity to the door is gone.

the actuator is located inside the door. remove the door panel the the liner under the panel. inside the hole closest to the lock button follow that rad should attach to the actuator. it is not part of the door panel.

you have an electrical problem either in the door it self or where the wire loom runs between the door and the body.

Thanks for the diagnosis.... I'll try to figure it out down the road. just kind of strange how that gremlin popped up.

My guess its going to be a faulty connection in a relay....

well it sounds like you lost either the ground or the power supply to the door you do not have a single unit failure. look at it this way it will be an inexpensive fix when you find the broken wire or connection. it will be a matter of reconnecting it. I my self would start checking the wires in the rubber boot between the door and the body since that area is always moving when the door is opened and closed.

well, as with everything else lately..... the door is fine today....the cold, damp weather has been playing tricks... I am going to take your advice and start wiggling wires, to see if I emulate the problem.

moisture related incedents can usually be traced to connectors. check your bulk connector for the door harness to the main body harness. should be near where it feeds through the hole in the door.
