Hi folks, my 97Q needs to get drive belts replaced soon, any suggestions? On everythinginfiniti.com I found a list that includes ac belt, alternator belt, water pump belt, and p/s belt. what's p/s belt? do i need all of them or first 3 only? i remeber it's a 3-belt system.

THANKS A BUNCH!

Welcome to NICO! Make sure to stick with the OE belts (OE=original equipment). Plan on doing this yourself?

Thanks.... Just ordered the belts from everythinginfiniti.com, do you think those OE?

I think I would bring the belts to a nearby shop.

Yes belts from Joe (where u got them) are OE.

id watch thE shop real close with the belts. Dont want them tourqing the pulleys too much. At least try for a late model import only shop if you cant diy or go to the dealer. Also a good time to check the bearings in the pulleys, making sure they spin freely and such.

Thanks so much, I would do that.

Be sure to order the pulleys also as the unused ones in their unopened packages can be returned to Joe.

I can recommend Japanese Motor Sports in Round Rock. If you call, tell John Shea that I recommended him to you.

As a rule I've always replaced idler tension pulleys every 60k to 70k to prevent failure, especially given I live in a hot climate--heat kills bearings. OEM everything on the beltline is the way to go...this prevents any unexpected drama. A 2000 Altima my wife had years ago had her idler bearing pop off at 60,019 miles...i took that as an omen ever since. It may cost a little more, but the dealer may be your best bet given the labor shouldn't be too much, and they will get parts quicker. Good luck.
