Any FR drivetrain car (preferrably with some sort of locking diff) can be used to drift, regardless of engine type. The CA will have a similar nature to a 4AGE-powered car with regards to drifting; keeping the revs up in the ideal powerband will be necessary so there's more footwork than drifting, for example, a Viper. Ask the corolla (er, hachiroku) guys how they manage; they've only got 130hp stock and their cars aren't that much lighter than an S13.

Nope. It'll never work. No one has ever used a 180SX to drift with. Ever.

the best incident of me ever drifting a vehicle was in my family's 1986 toyota van. it was wet out and i left foot braked the hell out of it and ...god it was just beautiful.

the question isnt really about what engine is good for it, but more is your car's suspension good for it.

drifting is all driver. i have seen people at events with fully built cars everything you coudl ever want only getting under steer or powering over, seat time is the best thing you can have for drifting, then coilovers and lsd

weren't those RWD??

**** I used to "drift" (I didn't know thats what it was back then) my astro van when I was 16 and too stupid to realize that a vehicle like that rolls over if you look at it the wrong way. Nothing bad ever happened though.

I drifted my 96 Chevy S10 pickup.

Unlike the 240SX it has a an oh-**** grip. This is good for the passengers.

no weight in the back, so it had no traction. Crap for HP but loads of TQ, so it kicked out easy, and amazingly controllable for something with such a ****ty suspension and weight ratio etc, and it was autotragic.

yea im going on the 31st... i wasd wondering who u are...id like to feel how a ca18det performs.so count me in for that ride .

im not necessarily asking if it can drift.. i was asking if it would be a wise choice for a drift car.. take the ka for instance it can be drifted but it dont like being in the high rpms due to its internal setup... unlike the sr which u can bounce of the rev limiter fine.. im simply asking if i were to buy one with drifting in mind would i be makiing a bad choice..

thanksfrom what i know about the motor it seems about the same as drifting an sr .. and yes i know about havting to keep the revs up but thats with almost every motor.. thanks for your valued opinions

I drift my ca all the time. It is definately possible, and it is sort of like drifting an underpowered car, eventhough i have like 50hp over what my ka had.

U need to keep the rpms up, and depending on wat turbo ur running the lag may bother u.

well trufelly i kinda like the idea of havting to keep the revs up and whatnot it teaches you better car control.. and you learn to drift with more technique than power.. thansk for all you imputs..

as for turbo.. i was thinking stock s14 bb t28...but prolly stock untill i upgrade... im only gona do maintainence and fmic and piping downpipe exhaust intake, maybe o2 housing.. and thats it.. run about 8-10psi..

what hp u think id be looking at.
