I'm not even going to start on drifting nor the tire company that sponsors it. It's all such an oxymoron.

Yup, and as usual, every where else in the United States will get to see......nothing. Yes indeed, lemme see some drift events in the midwest and east coast, until then, I hate California, mayhem is right about the event though.

I totally agree guys......

As a true race driver since I was 9.....I think drifting is for people with more $$$ for tires.......than common sense and true race driving ability.

Ill show any "drifter" the fast way to get around a race tack.

And Im sure the tire companys love sponsering an event that showcases burning tires to shreads.

Gimme a break.:rolleyez

you know what... it doesn't matter.. I think it still is pretty amazing stuff to watch. Whatever anyone says taht it doesn't take skills to do this.. let's see you do it then... but you are entitled to your own opinion... I however will be going.. and I might even try it out!

do you even know how drifting started? drifting is not racing, its about style and showing your skill as a driver being able to control your car in all situations. and have you ever seen a drift track? its like maybe 1/2 a mile in total length and they maybe go 100 mph max on straights if they dont tank slap the whole way down...Laps times have nothing to do with drift competitions whatsoever and there is no start of finish line..so dont even begin to compare drifting to circuit racing.ok i understand you dont like drifting? good for you stay on a drag strip.

You learn a lot about handling a vehicle by drifting. Most top rank drifters in Japan get picked to race professionally.

I know what drifting is ......I know how it started...... I was expressing my opinion on how lame I feel it is........I am a true RACER, and its a damn shame that young sports car owners want to beat the hell out of their cars by trying to slide around a corner (and constantly crash) by drifting......usually on a public road.

Style.....I guess if you feel that bent rims, bald radials and crushed bumpers is stylish.....and control???

Control is keeping the car as stable as you can without losing power by spinning the tires, all while trying to keep another RACER from passing you in the corner, and maintaining the fastest line through it.

I have gone to a drag track but only to shut some mustang owners up. I spend more time at tracks like Road America, and Gratten road course.

So go ahead and go nuts at your event......I dont care......But dont tell me what I know, or assume what kind of racing I do.

Hey Mr. control get over yourself. You couldn't hang against the average drifter in a competition. It's destructive but fun. It's not racing so don't compare it to racing. Let the kids have there fun as long as they don't do it on the street.

Why are you guys hating on drifting so much... and it is not just for "kids" you say what you want. If it is not for you then don't say S H I T! just keep your coments and negetive vbe out of here. Go to another thread and post. Fine even if you want to post it here don't be rude to people and just say "this is dumb"... dont be such an arse. You can be the greatest true "RACER" there is but you also have to have respect for different types of activities. No one cares if you raced in all those damn races. Big woop! What is a "true RACER" anyways??? you mind explaining it to me.. without being so negetive?? it's fine to have a dif opinion on something but to have such an attitued about it is just plain ignorrant. say what you want but you will always be ignorant for running your mouth like that here to me! <~ that is my opinion and you can try to trash me or flame me all you want.... go home and cry about it as well. Also, just because people like drifting and think it is awesome sport or whtever you want to call it are "kids" and I know mad you prolly meant that in a nice way... I know you are better than that... but anyways

I'm out! don't hate...congradulate!!!

Hey Black..........calm down......why are you so hyper??

I expressed an opinion on my first post and then Swift attacked ME. My second post was a response to his BS he shot towards me. I only made it personnal towards a member who thinks he can tell me what I know or do.

I dont care what you guys do.......But I will defend my position in a calm manner.....unlike you.

I never called anyone a kid in any of my posts......go back and read them before you jump on my stuff.

As for the whole drifting thing I defended my position succesfully.....like an adult.

I don't know about you guys, but I like driving.

Whether I'm trying to go 1320' as fast as I can, or go around a gang of orange cones without knocking them over, it's all fun to me.

Personally, I couldn't do just one thing. I'm going to drag race at the Palmdale drag strip, I'm going to do AutoX and try drifting at Irwindale or wherever there is an event being held and I'll do some spirited grip driving in the mountains when I have the chance.

Don't knock drifting just because it destroys tires. It's fun to do, and while it isn't always the fastest or best way to get to the finish line, it has it's place.

u have to admit man, it looks sweet when they have their car sideways 2 feet from another car.. burning out is pointless to but it also looks sweet.. its kinda like figure skating, there is no point to it but it looks cool... (well no figure skating doesnt look cool, but u get the point)

It's easy to understand why a tire company would sponsor a competition like this.It is exactly like Oscar Myer sponsoring a hot-dog eating event.

Sure some people think it's dumb, but that's their choice. I think golf ball retrievers are the most retarded things on earth, but hey, some people make their living off of them, so whatever works I guess.
