Changing the battery should not cause you any issues. You have a chip in your key and an immobilizer built into the ignition system. If the immobilizer does not get the correct signal from the key, the car will not start.

She owns a 2006 RAV4, and when the battery was replaced, it locked out the starter for a half hour after that. At least that's what her mechanic told her.
I was wondering what type of cutoff did nissan put into my 98 maxima, if any.

Hi, FYI,The Anti-Theft Ignition Was Avaliable From 1999-Newer (I30 & Maxima) Unfortunately The 98 Did Not Have The Chip Key (i wish it did,I would still have my 98 SE....sToLeN)...Just a Fun Fact.....
