$249 fee for document processing. Anyone else find this a bit unscrupulous? Never mentioned in any previous discussions pricing discussions of course.

Document Preparation Fee of $55 appeared to be the standard fee in my area. You might check with other dealers in your area to see if everyone charges $249, or if your dealer is trying to make a few extra $$$.

Yeah the document fees vary from dealer to dealer. One place (non nissan) in my area attempts to bill $500 for it. I forget how much it was for my nissan but I think it wasl ike $100

whoa.. that's a lot!

It's typically $79 in my area.. but I'm sure it varies nationwide.

It's a scam by the way. It's just another way for the dealerships to tack on a little extra profit into the deal. Car sales has become pretty cut-throat in most areas, and it often turns into a volume game.. an extra $100ish on each deal can make or break a sales managers profitability. So they tack on some fees for work they already do and have been doing for years..

I'd tell them to eat that fee and walk out if they don't do it.

thanks - might just do that. they also want flat $200 for the sales guy because they "don't work on commission at this dealership". hard to believe that one too, and much less why that's my problem.

Some states have passed laws limiting this practice.

If your state has no law the dealer can charge any price !, but must charge the same for all customers.

Remember this ALL PROFIT to the dealer !

We closed on our Rogue elsewhere for 1/2 the fees (and VPP pricing). I didn't mind paying as they were up front with us about all costs and not unreasonable.

Here's a tip to anyone looking around ... build your Rogue at nissanusa.com, then check inventories. Once you are looking at one inventory, change the color options in the upper right corner and select "change dealer" on the left. Put in a zip code and change range to 100 miles. Now you can quickly check every dealer within 100 miles and just back out one page if there isn't a good match.

I finally found the only other loaded black one nearby, called the dealership, and we had purchased within 24 hours. Now just waiting for them to deliver tomorrow since the RMV was closed for the holiday weekend.
