okay i searched this and really didnt come up with anything. i was thinking about building my own short ram intake and was tinking about doing it in pcv piping that i had laying around. i had a lott of time on my hand to actually thing it out. i have heard mixed things about using pcv cuz it transfers heat. does anyone know if this is true cuz i figurd that if the stock awas plastic i figured thicker plastic wouldnt hurt it.

You don''t want to do cold air, because you here in flood state. I know of quite a few cold air intakers who have blown their engine. For short ram you could always cut the stock piping just past the iacv port and put fthe filter there...

yeah i was planning on doing that but i changed my mind when i might reroute the piping later on for cold and i was gonna put the bypass on it and one of those cover for the filters for insurance. i was thinking about building a new iacv port using 2 inch pcv pipe and then connecting it to a 3 inch on the driver side.

any one else know if pcv piping will block out heat well from the engine?

Not sure about that...

I know on mine, I started by putting a cone filter on the mass airflow sensor and eliminating the factory air box, silencer, and ram air. Not sure if it made any power really, but at least I can hear how much throttle I'm giving the motor now.

If I were to do more, I plan to do the short ram thing and move the battery to the trunk or to the drivers side of the engine bay. The only issue I have is (I think) not being able to easily hook up the MAF just past the IACV stuff.

yeah that what i did also but i ended up buying the wrong adapter for my car. i ended up buy a s14 instead of an s13. so i ended up just drilling new holes and hooked it up. and ur right it did sound pretty nice. i plan on finishing mine off like this person did but i havent put the 3 inch piping in yet. and since it is set up like the stock. the intake is sitting right next to the hood and the driver side so when i close the hood it blocks off air to he intake. its weird how i found out too. if my hood is closed the car idles funny and if the hood is up the car still idles funny. but if its cracked open alittle it runns at 1k rpm all the time, its kinda weird.

heres how im finishing mine off

Hmm, I'd be worried about water with it set up like that... But whatever works I say... I mean my bumper on my kouki is held together with duct tape right now till I get the new one painted.

I'd also save that hole for brake ducting instead. but that's mostly due to track time and a general dislike of brake fade.
