Has anyone disconnected the battery yet?

Here is what the SM says needs to be done when removing the battery negative terminal.

I have not talked to my dealer's service department, but if the above is true, You Have Got to be Kidding!

BTW, the reason I am considering disconnecting the battery is...

1. I am planning to run #8 or #6 wires from the battery through the firewall. The best way I can see of doing this is to remove the air intake parts. Per TSM, step number 2 is removing the battery.

2. Mounting some electronics under the passenger seat. I will need to remove the seat, and again the TSM says to disconnect the battery (I assume so the side airbag doesn't deploy!

i've removed the (-) terminal as well as the (+) terminal. it's not that big a deal. nothing happened when I did it.not only are you disconnecting the (-) terminal because you may set off the airbag but also b/c disconnecting any plugs related to the air bags will set off your air bag light and can only be reset at the dealer and the dealer charges for this service. also it's a safety precaution so you do get a nice warm and tingly feeling.

Thanks for the response. Yes, I know I will be disconnecting both terminals. The disconnecting the negative terminal is Nissans wording.

Happy to know that you didn't have anything that happened. I was just conserned that when I was finished that I would have to tow the rogue the dealership to get it running again.

I was also questioning the accuracy of the information as well as it mentions the automatic temperature control, rear view monitor and automatic back door system. None of which are on a 2008 rogue.

Items marked with a '-' do not apply. Also, there is a backup capacitor that keeps the airbag system functioning after main battery failure. The FSM states you should wait at least 3 minutes for it to discharge before performing any service.
