is anyone using a MSD digital 6 ingnition on there turbo setups. i'm having nothing but bad luck with it. My car has broken down twice so far, tonite being one of them. i get fuel and air so i know it must be the spark. i cleaned my plugs, my pionts on the cap and the rotor and still it cuts out. i cleaned everything tonite in a Walmart parking lot after it died on me, and it ran for about a minute before it died again, its starting to get really irratating. any help would be awesome

first off, I have the sci ignition and have been asking everyone i can what wires are used? Every diagram i have gotten is for obd1 not obd2. So if you dont mind helping me out, could you tell me what wires are used? Don't mean to jack your thread but I would really like to finally install this thing. Get back to me if you can help.

As for your problem, I would double check all the wiring for the ignition then look in their trouble shooting guide to see how to test the ignition. If it was running and then died it sounds like a faulty connection. You also could pull a plug out and reconnect the wire and turn it over to see if there is a spark. Hope this helps you.

i don't know much about the sci ingnition, but i do have a manual for the car with wiring diagrams, i don't know if that would help you out that much.

i have checked the wiring over and over again, i even had a shop check it out, and still nothing. maybe the digital 6 isn't compatable with my car. i don't know. i see alot of people here using the 6al maybe thats what i need to use on mine. i wouldn't think that it would matter, 6al or digital 6 but hey i could be wrong. i would think that someone else would have tried this setup, and hopefully they'll help me out. good luck on your set up Nismofan if i can help i'll try to

Hmm.......reading up on the digital 6, its seems like it should be fine....seems like just a better version of the 6al. The funny thing is that on my friends integra and my other friends 93 240, I had to go inside the dist. to hook up the wires because it would not fire up if we cut and spliced wires outside the dist. However, when I attemped to locate these wires inside mine(same with your car) the coil is all sealed up. In the process of taking pics to post on the msd tech board to see if they can give me some assistance. I will let you know what I find out. As for the digrams, if you could email them to me or post them that would be a help also, if i let the msd tech look at them maybe I can get some answers. my email me with the digrams if you can.

figured out the problem, cap and rotor needed to be cleaned, appently i didn't do a good job of cleaning it a 8 a night when it broke down and there was no light i'll go a buy a new cap and rotor hopefully this helps stop the problem. i know what you mean on the sealed dist. there is one wire coming out of the dist. and there rest you have to splice in. confusing as hell. called MSD and got a different answer everytime i called on how to hook it up. i hate it when my baby breaks down and i have to leave her there.....like a woman...heatbreak and hell ;o)

lmfao......different replies from msd each time you called in. **** I thought that they just didn't like me or somethin...haha. Yeah I heard everything from "you cant use or products on your car" to "what do you mean the diagram is for obd1 not obd2". I have pretty much said screw calling them and just looking for help on this forum. I know it can be done since I have seen it in mags featuring s14's with KA-T's and the obvious fact that you are using it. The sci has four wires to hook up plus the two to the battery. orange, black, white, and red, two that go to the coil and the other two into the wires that originally went to the coil. If this is how yours is, what wires did you splice into?

Im in the same boat. I dont like the fact that you have to go into the cap anyway. And MSD said the dame thing to me. I called and asked them which wires to use...all they could do was send me a wiring diagram for a 200sx---morons. Im about to break down and buy a FSM for a 96...obdII sucks. When i put a new motor in my car, i took all the emmisions crap off anyway. I live in SC- so no emission testing. If anyone knows...let me know which ones to use...I'd really like to get mine on.

Ok we need people who have done this to clear it up.....highlife has it but still waiting on a response, Chris May had msd on his but Don't know how to contact him. and MSD is a waste of time to call. This is what I have figured out.... two wires going into the coil- both hot constantly and at 12 volts. Taking apart the dist. down to the coil- sealed up and only a spade terminal comes out into the Cam pos. sensor? I am guessing that this is the signal wire needed to operate the msd, 1 of the other two on the outside of the dist going into the coil would be the one needed to splice into to get the coils original 12 vlt positive? So far I have WDRacing looking into this and us three whom have posted. So hopefully we can get this sorted out cuz I would like the benifits of an ignition when I am on the bottle and even more when I get my turbo together.

From what I know, I talked to balanced performance a few weeks ago. They are the ones that installed the msd on chris's car. They told me that he went through 4 distributors on that car. I dont think that the msd casued that, but they seem to have thier doubts. Im pretty sure chriss car went through so many dist's because of his driving habits, and the fact that he blew is car up almost every 3 months until the last motor. I dont know. There are some guys that have done this out there. There is a guy...boosteds14 that i think has done it. Hes on yahoo if you type in turbo ka.Someone let me know whats up.

Later,Josh

I am getting ready to post pics of inside the dist. on the msd tech forums. Hopefully the guys on there will have a better understanding of what I am tryin to tell them by showing them. There was also a guy in an issue of turbo years ago that got info from chris may on building his KA and he is running msd 6btm also. I'll keep on posting info I come across.
