Differences in the fx 3.5l and qx4 3.5l

I got a 02 Qx4 with some mods (read sig), I am trying to get more power out of the 3.5l block. The FX35 has the same block as the all other nissans but there's got to be differences somewhere that can be tweaked to get more power ala FX power curve.

The qx4/pathfinder both have .....240hp@6000 rpm and 265 tq@3200 rpmVariable-Flow induction systemcompression ratio: 10.0:1curb weight:4352 (without driver)

I had an experience with one of my salesman friends who has a black FX35 as a demo vehicle and we did a few runs against each other. With my measily mods I was demolished off the line, but after about 60 my mods shine. I was stilled walked by about 2 cars but I really made up some ground. I am thinking with the FX35 engine modifications, the the qx4 will be a better all around SUV. What needs to be done to tweak performance???? I am not a mechanical engineer so I am completely clueless, However, I do have the time and some money to get the modifications done.

A supercharger will do the trick. Anything thats fits the G35 should work with a little modification in the Qx4. The G35 sports coupe should see plenty of attention in the aftermarket performance mod arena, so you should have plenty of options, but be prepared to modify the mod to get it to work in the Qx4.

I believe the FX also uses CVT instead of the usual auto transmission. The car rpms stay closer to peak torque/horsepower ranges (using a pully and centripetal force to gain an unlimited number of gear ratios). Not much you can do about that in the Qx4. But increasing the horsepower above 280hp should account for this and help you beat the FX.

Infiniti/nissan probably redesigned the intake and exhaust from the manifold up, tweaked the computer a little, and various other things. There was a prior post on this, but I cannot remember where I found the information.

The supercharger will be the easiest way to get the peformance you desire. I would be extremely intrested in what you come up with to add a little pep to your ride. Keep us informed.
