Ok, so I decided to do a little decorating. Subtle changes, but I think they look good, almost factory. I'm not quite done yet...but here's what I got so far.

I actually didn't start taking pictures until I was almost done, but this will pretty much get the point across.

Ok, step one is to take the top center dash panel off. It will just lift up at the front, and then pull towards you. Then take out the two screws holding in the "Radio Surround" piece. (Anyone who has changed the radio, knows these parts)Un-clip the whole "Passenger Air Bag" light. (top left circled in this pic) DO NOT UN PLUG THIS! Pull off the whole assembly. (Yes, thats a Colts floormat. GO BLUE!!!)

Un-plug the Emergency Flashers button, (right circle in above pic) and slide the button out through the front of the trim piece.Set these aside, next to radio is where I put them.

The center cubby has two screws at the top.

And on the bottom, just three little guides and a week glue. Pops right off.

Next, both vents have one screw at the top.and clips holding it on each side. Just pry these with a little flat-head, and the vents will come right out.

Now for the outer vent trim pieces. Pull off the A-Pillar cover, then pop out the defrost duct and you can pull out the trim around the vent.

WARNING!! the passenger side has a screw in the top! I almost broke this, so be careful! remove the A-Pillar cover and defrost duct as before. you will have to pull out the actual vent for the pass. side, and get the screw out from the back of the vent itself. (sorry, I think I forgot to take a picture of that )

Pull off the trim piece (couple of clips holding it on, pops right off) and we're ready to paint.

WAIT! i mean we're ready to SAND, and PREP for paint!

Basics come into play here, and like I said I didn't start taking pictures from the beginning, but sand down through the paint, on painted parts, and just evenly sand the black "Radio Surround Trim." Primer, again basics here...be sure to use a primer close to the color of paint you choose. I am painting my pieces silver, so I went with gray primer.

Now, on with the pics!

Left Vent Trim

Radio Surround

Right Vent Trim

Little more sun over here. (thats my baby in the background {84 300ZX})

Little mock-up before final clear coat went on.

Install in reverse order. pretty sure you can figure that out.

Final installation

Thats all I got for ya, next for me is an In-Dash DVD player. Taking it out of my old car (now sister's car) 04 Sentra. And I'll probably paint the lower section with the Climate Controls, and also the center dash panel.

Thanks for looking, and reading along!

I'm getting ready to put in a Satellite FM Modulator. I'm a little concerned about removing the top of the dash to get to the radio. Are you saying I should pry up the front top of the dash (above the radio/storage compartment) and then pull towards me?

Thanks for your help.

yes exactly. I just pushed it up with my thumbs, not using tools so i didn't scratch it. but yeah, the front will pop up above the storage cubby and then it pull it towards you.

Thanks for all the comments everyone. i think it'll look nice if i do the center dash piece, and the trim around the climate control too. I'm only concerned about how to prep the dash... seeing as how it's textured. Any tips?
