I JUST GOT MY FIRST INFINITI THIS WEEKEND, THE '07 G35 AWD. I HAD BEEN DRIVING A MAXIMA FOR 5 YEARS AND NEEDED AN UPGRADE. I WENT TO THE DEALER FOR THE FIRST TIME ON SAT AND DROVE AWAY WITH MY NEW RIDE AND I DID MY BEST TO WEAR THEM DOWN AS MUCH AS THEY WORE ME, BUT I WANTED TO SEE HOW I DID IN COMPARISON TO OTHER'S OUT THERE.

I GOT THE AWD W/SUNROOF, CARGO NET AND SPLASH GUARDS. NO OTHER PACKAGES, SO PRETTY MUCH A BASE AWD MODEL W/MSRP OF $35,840. I PUT TOTAL CASH UP FRONT IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,950. TAX RATE IN NYC IS 8.375%. I AM NOT FINANCE SAVVY, SO I DON'T UNDERSTAND ALL THE MONEY FACTOR AND RESIDUAL VALUE STUFF COMPLETELY. BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS MY PAYMENTS: 39 MONTHS, 10K PER YEAR...I LIVE RIGHT BY MY OFFICE SO MILEAGE IS NOT A CONCERN, AND A PAYMENT OF $445/MONTH. THE DEALER'S FIRST QUOTE WAS $489/MONTH....COULD I HAVE GOTTEN HIM DOWN MUCH MORE? I HAVE BEEN AGONIZING OVER THIS!

I APPRECIATE ANY RESPONSES. THANKS!

RESTLESS IN NY!

I wouldnt say you got hosed, but you probably could have knocked off maybe another 20-30 bux. Im paying 549 with the same car and lease deal, but I only put 1500 down plus I rolled 3000.00 bux from my old lease into the payments.

How much extra did the 3000 from the prior lease add to your payment?

I paid 39k for my G35x, 560/month leased, no money down (my car trade in gave me like 2-3k as down payment).

I would say you got a pretty good deal....G35s hold their values and since you also got the new model year...445/month doesn't sound to bad to me. That is a whole lot of car for the money...just think what a BMW or Lexus would cost!!

by rule of thumb, 3000 dollars on a 39 month lease adds about 100 bux to a pymnt Basic math...just divide the number by the pymnts and add a little for interest.

BTW, I also added a remote starter to the car which added around 600 dolars (15 dollars a month)

well, you can probably get the bmw 330 for the same money, but i personally would rather have the infiniti. i am bored with bmw styling and i think the infiniti is a much nicer looking vehicle. if i could afford the 550, that would be a different story, lol.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with you. The BMW styling is getting a little dated. I love the cars, it just seems like the step they are taking with their styling is the wrong one. Somehow they've lost that toughness look they use to have. They use to look mean, but now they just look dated, and the new styles don't look so tough anymore just more like blah.

I think you have done pretty well. Like another has said, you may could have gotten some more money off, but I have been hosed pretty bad in the past, and the deal you got is pretty good compared to mine. I ended up getting out of that car and ate the negative equity so I could start over. I got a really good deal on financing my 05 TL back in 04. And an excellent deal on my G35c lease that I got last year.

One thing I discovered is that dealerships will always be willing to make a deal with you especially if you act like you don't really want or need the car. This was certainley the case with my G35c. I told them up front that this was just to be a fun car, and I pretty much rejected every offer they came back me with, because I knew they could do better. I stopped calling them after a while and about a week later, I get a message from the sales person with a ridiculous deal that I couldn't pass up. They even gave me 2K extra miles on my lease that wasnt in their original offer.

I have been screwed on a lease before with an 04 Maxima, so I knew my stuff my second time around. I even bought this Expert Lease Pro software so I knew exactly where all my money in the lease was going so there was no way I was going to get screwed unless I let them. One good thing about the Infiniti dealership I dealt with where they were not pushy at all despite the back and forth haggling, they were always professional and it made for a better experience in the end, which is not what I can say about the Nissan dealer down the street.

Just remember a reputable dealer will give you time to think about what you might do outside of the dealership and you need time (weeks in some cases) to really think about any deal before you sign. Any dealer that demands or pressures you make a deal "today" and will not let you leave, is not a dealer you want to deal with.

enjoy your car, (sweet ride BTW) and next them you lease you will be that much wiser.

I have a 2006 Sedan 6sp manual with premium package A with Sirius satellite Radio. My out the door price including NJ 6% tax was $35300.This was New Years Eve 2005 (12/31/05). I have never leased a vehicle but if I was going to, I would never tell the sales person. Negotiate the price of the car only. No trade, no financing, etc. Keep it simple!. I used a home equity loan and paid that rather quickly as interest rates continued to rise. Try to obtain your own financing. Once you settle on a price, if you still want to lease at lease you can run the numbers yourself. Never rush the purchase of a new car. My wife and I visited 12 dealers (Lexus, Acura, Infinity) over a period of 3 months. December is an excellent month to buy a new car. Especially Christmas and New Years Eve. I don't think I was much help to you as I really don't know if you got a good deal without researching the dealer cost of the 07 G35X. But I love my 06 G35 & it performed well in the recent snow and ice storm using downshifting to brake in the snow.
