When the servers feel like working, anyway. It's public so they can stress test. Which means the servers keep going down.

I generally don't have problems logging in. I just keep getting dropped. Which is the big problem with online-only. I realize this is a beta, but Blizzard had damn well better get this s*** together for launch. I'm not paying $60 for a game I can't play at any given time.

I have never had any issues with SCII, so I have a lot of confidence the servers will be ready. But if they're not...I can't think of a better demonstration of why online-only is stupid, regardless of its reasoning.

EDIT:
Also, I love the Demon Hunter's lament: "My Hatred is too low!" I know EXACTLY how she feels!

Thoughts after the beta:

Things I like
1) Colors were dark enough
2) Monk + Demon Hunter
3) Hardcore is backkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

Things I don't like
1) The skills stat system was horrific
2) NO HOT KEYING F1->F12
3) Item pictures are super underwhelming
4) Health globes and no pots
5) No overlay for map
6) Skills again

There are pots. Just have a cooldown. Not even a very long one. Potion spamming was ALWAYS a broken aspect of Diablo. Cooldowns and health orbs have fixed that. Going down to Diablo as a Sorcerer in D1, the best setup was an inventory full of mana pots. In DII you could stack them and they still got in the way. In DIII we've finally fixed the problem. Good riddance.

You can get a map overlay with Tab or M. Problem is you can't click through it. If they fix that aspect, it'll be fine. Even Torchlight offers you the option of a corner minimap or a full overlay.

Demon Hunter is a lot of fun. I also really like the Witch Doctor.

What are you guys thoughts on the Real Money Auction House? I read an article not too long ago about actual prisoners in China being forced to Gold Farm in MMO's. I can only imagine what sorta of exploits might come from a system that proposes to output ACTUAL MONEY. Any thoughts?

I am and always have been against it for several reasons. Let me just get out there that I did sell D2 items for real life money.

I do not like that Blizzard takes percentages of every item sold.
Don't like that blizzard can ban your account or remove items as they see fit.
Paypal also takes a percentage of your money.
WIll probably lead to increased hacking if money is sitting on your Bnet account.

I just finished the game. It was fantastic. The story was great! It surprised the hell out of me on more than 1 occasion. When it lags it sucks, but doesn't happen often. Today it was great, hardly any at all.

I played some coop yesterday. Latency was TERRIBLE and there was a lot of lag. Since I have a crazy good internet connection I have to blame Blizzard's servers. Wouldn't be a problem if I could play LAN games or if Blizzard had their crap together.

That's alright, though: I'm playing the Torchlight II beta right now.

* Forgot I drunk posted here.

I've just now started playing public games and the lag is a lot worse than playing with friends for some reason. A lot of people I play other games with got it so I haven't had to until now. I wonder why it is so much worse for public games.

Yeah, I've been having terrible lag. Both on my 50/50 fiber optic connection at my old place and my 20/80 connection at my new place. There's no excuse for 200 to 300 milisecond latency on those kinds of connections. The s*** part is that I've been playing mostly singleplayer and still having lag. SINGLE PLAYER LAG.

s***.

Can't wait for Torchlight 2.

It is. I loved the time I had with the beta. Runic (who I'll restate for those unaware are comprised of much of the original Condor/Blizzard North Diablo and Diablo II team) really seem to understand the art of making wading through seas of enemies as un-tedious and purely fun as possible. New pet features include the ability to have your pet fetch basic items (pots, scrolls, etc.) while in town selling the items you're too busy to sell yourself. They've gone out of their way to enable you to stay in the fray longer and enjoy it more while you're there.

The classes are still pretty versatile, too. The engineer I played could do melee or ranged direct combat, with summonable robots to support either role. I didn't have a chance to try the other classes. The game has a great feel and the GUI is well refined (much as I loved Torchlight, I thought the bottom bar was a little cluttered and could have been arranged better). The areas are also more varied...most of the starting area I played through was outdoors, but with indoor dungeons scattered about.

That, the addition of real multiplayer (You could kind of get it to work in TL1...but it was buggy), and no crippling DRM means Runic gets my money.

It was horrible. Don't bother with the grind, it's not worth it.

Still no PvP.

Well, if it had a decent PVE system for end game, that'd be fine with me. Im not into PVP all that much, though I do play on PVP servers normally. I like to engage in it on occassion, but if a game is PVE heavy that suits me well too. Either way, D3 was a major bust. Im back to SWTOR currently, latest patch, along with server consolidation seems to have brought some improvement to the game, though I'm told that PVP still sorta sucks in it.
