Today I attempted to run the defroster during a rain storm. Unfortunately the air-flow would not blow out through the defroster vents at the base of the windshield or through the side vents to defog the side windows.

I tried every "air-flow" dial position available and even referred to my owner's manual to make sure I wasn't missing something. And No...I wasn't missing anything...except the defogging activity I was hoping for.

A few minutes passed and so did the rain storm. I then decided to try out the rear wiper window washer function and guess what? The wiper operated fine...however, not a drop of washer fluid was dispersed. I tried it a hand full of times and then let it go (I knew I would be looking at the owner's manual when I arrived back at home for the defogging issue). And of course, I was operating the rear wiper washer correctly.

A question though...I could only find reference to a single "washer fluid reservoir". Does anyone know if this one reservoir services both front and rear window washers? The front washer seems to work fine. I was thinking there might be a separate reservoir for the rear window washer.

Looks like a trip to Team Nissan of Marietta is in order. I sure hope this isn't a sign of greater things to come...

The air will not blow? or the air was blowing but the condensation will not disappear?

I had the same problem - fixed it with a needle head. Check the rear squirt nozzle for dried wiper fluid residue.

For the defroster, I am assuming the vent was open, and not closed ( we have all missed the simple things before).

On other cars I have owned, the rear wiper fluid always took a while to travel from the front reservoir. Did you hold it down for a while, 30 seconds perhaps to allow the pressure to push it back through? If so I would agree with the previous post, something is clogged, or possibly, just look under the hood and make sure the little washer fluid hose is attached to the reservoir. Hope this helps...

When I had the defroster activated with the air flow dial turned all the way to the right (Defrost only), air was being blown through the front and bottom vents only. No air was being blown through the defroster vents.

Thanks for the "needle" suggestion-I will give that a try before heading to the dealer tomorrow.

I did not realize the defroster vents could be opened or closed. I thought they were always open?

I don't recall how long I held the lever down - but I will pay attention tomorrow when I attempt the "needle" solution and make sure I give it enough time. Thanks for the suggestion.

Odd - I've never heard of a problem with the vents not being properly channeled... but I guess that is always possible.

Well, I took the Versa to the dealer today and happy to report all is well. The vent blowing issue was apparently due to a "loose vent cable on the evap box" as stated on my receipt. Dealer corrected under warranty and the defroster is now working.

They said the window washer fluid reservoir was low and that caused the rear washer not to function. They filled the reservoir and now it works fine.

So the Versa and I are happy once again and I will add this as an entry to my Versa History Log.

Motor on!!
