Ok, so as I kinda explained in my question about the s14 grills, I am searching for a decent 240sx. I am starting to like the s14's over the s13's more and more because they are newer and generally cleaner looking. I have been looking around on autotrader and cars.com for good deals and I have been finding some decent ones (~$4500 for an SE seems to be acheivable, maybe even $4k). My price range is $5k or less so I can basically get a s14 or get an s13 and put some money into it (probably mostly cosmetic stuff with some very minor engine work). I think that an s14 would be better since it doesn't really need as much $$ to look decent (I think the alloys are fine, so I would at least save on rims). Then again, having extra $$ is always nice as I might be able to put some into a new computer or rent or something... So I am not sure here. My car would basically be used for commute to school and I don't plan on putting a lot of money into it, just minor upgrades. I don't plan on racing or making a showcar, just something I can be proud of in terms of looks and that is quick enough to hold its own if I am messing around with my friends.

The biggest problem I have right now is that I was planning on waiting till summer ot get a car so my parents could help me get through the process and basically not get screwed. Right now I am at college 500 miles from home so if I find a deal around here they aren't going to be able to help me, but I am having a real difficult time finding a car in the Sacramento (home) area too, while I am able to find tons of good prices down here in San Diego/LA...I was also planning to wait because I really don't need the car right now since I live on campus and don't want to pay the insurance and parking costs right now. That and I don't know what I would do for insurance :(

So basically I am trying to figure out if I should wait till summer, or maybe closer to summer to buy. Or I could buy a car if I find a good deal since it is much easier to find them down here and try to sort out the mess of paperwork and whatnot by myself. I've never bought a car before, so I don't know if it's worth it to do it alone or even what I must do if I buy a car.

Overall, I am just pretty confused right now, so if anyone has some advice from previous experience or anything, go ahead and send it my way. Thanks for making it through this longwinded and absent-minded post from me, I just am looking for other's opinions about my situation. :D

yes, Sacramento is the capital of California, over one million people live there. LA is not the capital, even though they really think that they are (ask many people in LA and they will actually say it is the capital). Unfortuantely, many people from LA are incredibly dim-witted, thus the birth of the Lakers... oh yeah, go Kings!

but this doesn't help with my problems... somebody has to know what I should do and tell me so I don't have to think on my own... that's what corporate America has taught us, why think when someone can do it for you? (preferably not someone from LA)...
